Cowgold: congratulations! It's quite a step you're taking and you're finalizing it in the presence of family.
There'll probably be some insomnia in the first 1-2 weeks, and some restlessness for a few weeks more. Before March you'll be probably be able to say you don't really miss it anymore.
When it's time you got to move on.
My life became much more fun since I quit daily pot, and there's more of me there to enjoy it.
Welcome back Cowgold, good choice

Congrats my friend! Sometimes its surprising how little you can miss it.
Yes...too much herb can be a big hindrance rather than beneficial. As much as I enjoy it I must admit, every once in a while I do find myself being very unmotivated when stoned. Not physically but socially, I become very lethargic and boring in conversations, usually because I have nothing worth saying at the time and when I'm stoned small talk becomes very tedious for me.
Usually my capacity and enthusiasm for work both mental and physical remains at its usual high.

hey dude, that is fucking awesome. I've been a heavy smoker for the last 2 years now. I am quitting cold turkey as of today. Yesterday was my very last smoke. I want to push at least until march without smoking any herb.
I think this is going to feel GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

I have to admit, I get sad when people quit smoking. But I'm only 19, so I guess I would feel that way. At this stage in my life I feel confidant that I'm gonna be smoking until at least age 30. I think I can pull it off, too. I'm doing great in college (a lot better than in high school), and I feel like I can control my smoking.
The only thing I could think of that would make me quit is if all my friends stopped smoking.

Awesome... awesome. Its refreshing to read about someone TAKING ACTION rather than speculating/hoping/trying. What you did took guts. I wish you the best.
One tip that helped me... don't say "I'm trying to quit weed," or even "I'm quitting weed, I am not going to smoke anymore."
instead, think (and say, out-loud) "I don't smoke pot. That's something I used to do a lot back in the day, it stopped working for me, and now I don't smoke pot anymore. I don't smoke pot." That kind of language is key, it really works. Say it out loud! And be proud of your action, strength, and courage. Action brings good fortune.

I dont smoke pot..on weekdays. maybe.
go out and just do stuff man. anything you can find, just keep yourself occupied and, most importantly, with good people. you got to change your surrounding to some level, and in time it will be a lot easier to keep you mind off drugs/or youll see how sober is better than being stoner.

There are a few marijuana success stories amongst my friends (got a good job and still puff every once in a while, etc..) but the vast majority of people I know who kept smoking ended up riding the couch, doing nothing, and living the stoner lifestyle. I can't help but be somewhat biased against weed because of that.
they had there intentions...
Really? Does every stoner who sits on the couch all day 'intend' to lead that lifestyle? Or rather, do the effects of an addiction impose that lifestyle on them due to pharmacological changes in the brain? I know kids that do very little other than smoke, watch TV, and play video games... maybe they think that is how they want to live their lives--that the working world is a rat race, in the end you're still a rat, the world is going to hell anyway, etc. etc. etc...
but the way I see it, every one of us is here for a reason. How can we do anything but try and save our planet, or brothers and sisters? We all have our capabilities, specific talents and our role in the cosmic play... inaction/laziness is a LUXURY that we rich westerners have, but if too many of us live that life style it will all collapse around us. Plus, doing nothing but smoking all day can only lead to depression. To be happy, you've got to do good in the world. To experience joy, to be alive, one must apply their energies and talents, in whatever small ways, to the betterment of the lives of those around them.

yes by sucking the bong, i intend. to sit, all day. i mean thats just me im honest with myself. i know i smoke pot because life cn be boring and unfulfilling. i intend to make it a bit more barable by smokin a spliff and reflecting on my life.
i know ALOT of people who sit all day smoke and d nothing they have made lifes and carriers out of it
i also know people who have taken money (inharidence) and blown it all (100k) on bud and heroin and video games and bongs, and comp parts over the course of 2 years. we all have intentions. you just may not realise them at the time, probly cus you where high

if it's the cause of the problems, then i hope you get where you want to be
i'm on day three of a temporary break, myself.
trying to cut smoking out and am going to start baking with it instead. hoping to not get high for at least a week or two before i start getting high with cannafood. i've turned it down a few times already, which is better than most other times i've taken a break

In a way the word "peace pipe" came first into use by white people, who initially had seen but one use of the pipe, but the ceremonial pipe had more uses than just settling a conflict between tribes.
The stem of the pipe represents the Male Principle as well as the Animal World, hence that sometimes there is a piece of fur wrapped around it.
The bowl of the pipe represents the Female Principle as well as the Plant Kingdom.
Consequently the whole of the pipe represents Creation, and as soon as bowl and stem are connected the ceremonial pipe becomes sacred as a result.
The tobacco being burned in it is believed to send one's prayers up to the Great Spirit, the creator of all that is. A string of eagle prayer feathers may also be attached to the pipe, as this bird, sacred to the Native Americans, soars highest of all birds and therefore dwells closest to the Great Spirit.
As White Buffalo Calf Woman had instructed the Lakota people, the stem of the pipe is to be held upward during ceremonies, thus forming a sacred bridge between our world and that of Wakan Tanka.
it sounds as thow everyone's problem is 2 many peace offerings, your all just to dam peaceful!

Good luck, you will end up drinking more, that is my guess..that is what happened when I quit smoking weed. I was getting drug tested so that is why I quit for over a year. Im just waiting on some herb now, i just ran out earlier today.. but I still have resin in my pipe..
