What the hell is this GREEN!?!? Please take a look!

Good day.
I've noticed in the last few runs I've done that the insides of my stems are GREEEEEN!!
After doing multiple searches, and reading all the results, I see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this strange phenomenon. However, in not one of the prior posts that I've read have I seen a decent explanation and/or prognosis. This may be due to the lousy pictures (or lack of) of others, or lack of clarity between them and kind responders.
Having said that let me state a few FACTS right off the bat to avoid repitition:
- no mold in the casings
- rubbed them with a cue tip, nothing came off
- no bad smell, although once dryed and in a bag, do not smell as sweet as perfectly healthy shrooms
- ATE some last night and can assure you that they did not kill me, leave me with an upset stomach, or cause me to grow a second penis, they did however seem a tad weaker then normal
- first saw them in my first foray into straw spawn, and afterward have been seeing them in my coir/coffee mix too
- for the most part grain used to spawn was healthy and crumbly
- without having picked them and broken them open, they look fantastic while growing. I would include pics but there's no need, just imagine really healthy, strong shrooms
- the word 'bruising' is not a factor. I removed them by gently twisting and lifting, almost no pressure, and the 'greeness' goes from base to top, in every single one
Don't mean to seem like an ass in the way I've written this post, but after reading several others I'm quite frustrated that I couldn't find objective, conclusive information regarding this problem. Also, these shrooms are gifts for some friends, and I would rather avoid giving them something that is questionable, and may not lead to everyone's enjoyment.
Pics: (wet)

This is what they look like after drying out, the light green looks a lot more BLACK under the skin: (BTW this is the kind I ate last night)

Another dry shot:

OKOK here are two shots of the the casing these ones came from. The half with most of the good stuff is coir, the other straw. Was doing a side by side for my own informational purposes, looks like I'm better off with coir no?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information!

mushnoon, thanks for the quick reply!
trust me, it's not bruising! I have bruised other's while picking, and for the most part the bruising is a nice blue color on the outside of the stem. This is GREEN, INSIDE the stem, and without me manhandling them from top to bottom either.
I guess what I'm asking, is are these ok for my friends to consume, and would you be very unhappily surprised to see something like in the third pic when you busted one open before eating? Would you even WANT to eat it if it looks like that?

OK, well if you guys think that the one in the third pic is a-ok and you've had many like that yourself, then I'll shut the hell up.

i think most of mine looks like that. the inside are generally a bluish color whether you touched them or not. And im not color blind, its obviously greenish but it isnt the greenish that you should stay away from

It's completely normal, and it IS bruising. Don't think that bruising is only on the outside of the fruits. The same type of cells exist inside, and as the mushroom dries, it shrinks, causing bruising in the still wet center. RR

a HA..
Well THAT sounds like a reasonable explanation. Although I still don't feel SO good about black looking centers after dried.
RR any idea how to limit/prevent this in the future? For some reason it appears in some runs and not others? To my best knowledge all environmental factors are constant.
anarchOi & mushnoon & HeadFood , thanks for your re-assurance!
OK then.. I guess the verdict's out. I'll keep everyone posted as to whether or not any of my friends sprout another 'stump' after consumption

Don't eat them, they are deadly toxic.
Send them to me and I'll eat them for you, just to save your life.
Just kidding, as has already been stated above, it's just bruising.
What is your drying technique?

This wasn't part of your question, but the long stems and tiny caps indicate high CO2 levels. On the next grow, provide more air exhange for shorter, fatter stems and larger caps. RR

Well thanks Roger, I'll try and do that.
I've ben trying to find the balance between air exchange and high humidity in the tubs. I thought that with too much air exchange the humidity would go way down, so they wouldn't grow.
That strain is TC, the other one I'm using now is Maza.
Will go for higher air exchange.
Ordered some super Koh Samui, Orissa, and Cambodians from spores101 but fuck me in the goat ass after a month of waiting they claim that the package was lost in the mail, and we're now talking about what to do.

well thanks again for the words of wisdom guys..
RR's explanation was pretty golden, and reassuring. However I still don't think it's completely normal for some of them (once broken open) to be near black inside, having said that the one in my first shot does look more blue than green, so that bruising from shrinking thing makes sense.
Don't really need to keep this thread going any further than this, I'm happy we got here. Do a search for "green inside stems" and you'll see that we covered more ground here than ever before on this topic.
Cheers.

Ok,
When you dry them they actually dry from the outside in, this causes the inside to bruise and turn blue or a shade of greenish-blue. How long does it take for you to completely dry them? If it takes over 48 hours, your mushrooms start to rot on the inside due to the drying process-thus turning them black inside. I have had this happen to me before and eating them isn't too enjoyable when they turn black, they taste nasty as hell and smeel like a dirty ass! I have found a way to dry my fungus in less than 20 hours completely "cracker-dry", yes! I just put them on top of my radiator heater and wah-lah=crispy dry in less than 20 hours. I know alot of people don't have the radiator type heat, but, if you do===use it!

All of those were dried on that radiator in less than 16 hours! Some take a little longer.
Anyhow, to answer your question about the safety of eating them-you can, although I would try to stay clear of the black ones(rotten). Don't get me wrong now, hopefully you know the difference between EXTREME blueing and turning rotten. Extreme blueing will happen within hours of picking and will turn some areas of a mushroom black(Extremely dark blue).Especially with Pan. Copes. But, a mushroom won't rot that fast-it usually takes a couple of days for that to start unless you try to dry them in the oven with the heat turned up too high. From your pics they look just fine=enjoy them.
My two pennies
