Quicktime was a good one also. I've loathed that piece of crap ever since i first tried it god knows how far back.

Just yesterday, i -could not- stop it from loading videos in my browser until I uninstalled it (and even from death it gave me errors!). Don't talk to me about MIME, or associations. Quicktime cares not about these things.

For me that would be Windows ME too.

Oooh that was crap in so many ways. My computer had something like 64 MB memory, 800 megahurtz, pay-per-minute dialup that kept bleeding out and it ran on WinME. OUCH.

Heh, I fogot all about the days of "Norton Disk Doctor" (ndd.exe). We used to call it the Norton Disk Destroyer as it never healed a drive, but instead killed them if they were sick.

Use Nod32 by Eset.  Best software EVAR.  I've installed this into a virus infested system and it just chilled there weeding out viruses left and right.  Really good program. :thumbup:'s up.

Yes, NOD32 is pretty much the #1 AVG software out there (that is not free)

If you want free (legit), it's AVG.

And to be fair justyn, Limewire used to be alright back in the day. Then it very quickly went downhill. I used to get tons of music from that service. I'm actualy pretty sad it got fucked, since it was so easy.

You managed to uninstall it? That thing is still has vestiges left on my pc after manually uninstalling (such as taskbar icon). I've even gone into the registry and still cant find where its hiding. I''ll track it down when I have more time but an uninstall shouldn't be that damn hard.

I still have to agree with those who selected real player. Intrusive piece of shit with auto-loading updates which hog resources. This thing has a mind of its own and it harder to get rid of than an STD.

As far as OS goes, Windows ME. I used to work tech support and most of our complaints were from users of ME.

i haven't used windows in years so i won't comment on it

for linux there are a lot of what i would call shitty programs

for my distro there is an updater program called swaret which on a couple occasions ruined the os when i was trying to advance my version

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swaret

generally speaking older versions of xine, gxine were very buggy and mplayer was the only way to watch videos... however the latest versions are a lot better and i use them sometimes

juk is a pretty horrible buggy music player

there are a lot of bad programs on linux really, especially from my perspective since i compile source code

for example, to get my digital camera working with digikam i had to compile almost a dozen separate programs and libraries, but once i have it going it works great

also i had a lot of problems with my printer because the company that makes it (hp) didn't bother to make a linux version, but someone made some good drivers later on and now it works flawlessly

looks cool as hell though..
