Is it like this for everyone else?
    #7841907 - 01/06/08 11:20 PM (16 years, 26 days ago)

I've noticed that a lot of people who smoke pot regularly like to just sit at home and do nothing. You can make a suggestion to do something but they'd rather just sit in their house and watch television, listen to music, eat, or the favorite activity of many, stare at the wall. Oh, and smoke a lot of pot. That's cool sometimes, but I wish there were more people that like to actually do something interesting when they smoke pot.

I'm really starting to believe that marijuana leads to amotivational syndrome (to differing extents) in many users. I know that there are exceptions, but I've encountered these problems a lot. I enjoy smoking pot, which leads to me socializing with many other smokers, but now I'm starting to want friends who don't do drugs. They just seem to accomplish more. I think that maybe all of this technology we have is causing people to disconnect socially. It makes it easier to hole up into your own little world.

Maybe my area just sucks. I wouldn't know, because I've never lived anywhere else. Metro Detroit just needs to be demolished. It just seems to embody everything that is wrong with the direction this country is head in.

Who else feels this way?

When I smoke some good bud it makes me want to go out and be social and see the world. It eases tensions or anxiety I would normally have, chills me out. So I'd say I'm the opposite.

Ive found it tends to suck the motivation out of you when you smoke consistently, gets easy to just spark up, put on some music and play a game or something

I have friends who are like that.

It's frustrating because not only are they giving pot smokers a bad reputation (I'm pretty sure there are lots of people who don't act like that), but they just aren't that interesting anymore. I know a guy who is absolutely brilliant, he could probably cure cancer or something if he put his mind to it, but he just sits on his ass all day smoking up. It's his choice, but I'm not going to lie--I think it's kind of pathetic.

I was completely useless LONG before I started smoking pot. Uselessness isn't caused by pot, but maybe people who happen to be useless are drawn to pot.

I wouldn't smoke so much pot if I wasn't such an alcoholic.

My roommates are like this (i am the only one in the house who doesnt smoke.) - they all sit around the table, avoiding eye contact, waiting for someone to say something witty so they can banter in response, before returning to their slumber of making noises interspersed with the word "bored" while staring at the wall. There is also cigarette smoking mixxed in, and listening to the same cd's repetively.

I've noticed it affects some more than others.

It baffles me truly.

I prefere to read books, or read/socialize online, sober, and tend to make my "hanging out" pointful and with reason.

I like to smoke pot and do things. I also like smoking pot and having conversation. I think that it's the person, not the drug - for the most part.

I can relate to that. I think lazy is a nicer term than useless though. Just because you don't wish to go outside or socialize doesn't make you intrinsically useless.

Personally, I only smoke before bed because when I do so during otherwise productive hours I get acutely aware that I'm wasting my time.

Not me.  It really opens me up and allows me to enjoy my friends' company more most of the time.  Then again that could be because I am a bit introverted by nature.

fom my expirience cannabis is a very introspective drug, it makes you consentrate on one thing at a time.
you get really consentrated on talking or thinking or listening to the music and youre content just doing that.
i don't consider cannabis as a social drug, it's simply not! it gets you all cought up in your own privet world (thats why it can cause social paranoia i belive)

personally i've stopped smoking cannabis with other people around, i use it mainly to explore my dancing (when i'm alone at home) or to contemplate my self and the world around while taking a walk or something like that. rearly i'd smoke at a dance party when you can't really communicate with others anyway so i really get into my dancing and thats it.

it can also be a very good learning tool if you can listen and retrive the lessons into sobriety.
i think that's why artists (musicians painters sculptures and so on) use it.
it makes you relaxe and forget (phisically) about the rest of the things that go on inside your mind and you consentrate on what's going on right now, making you envision your creativeness much more clearly.
phiscally it helps me figure out how to dance, how to use my breath and where the energy flows to/from...

as a social drug it usually hinders in my expirience, yeah sometimes it creates a wonderfull free vibe but only sometimes when there arn't too many people envolved and the setting permits (the home setting when it gets too femiliar is just boaring after a while)

yea staring at the wall just relaxing is really a great thing to live for. you can always try other drugs though like stimulants and hallucinogens if your looking for something eles.

I haven't been a burn out lately to face this problem, but I do enjoy being active such as going for a run, going to the sauna, steam room, hot tub and pool to swim just to sweat it out and feel better, or cook, do something artsy and hike  but when it comes to sitting down I get into very deep conversations. And most of all INTERCOURSE!
