The standard tests are a one step rapid qualitative immunoassay for the detection of opiate and opiate metabolites in urine. The cutoff concentration for this test is 2000 ng/ml, as recommended by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the U.S. National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA). Prior to December 1, 1998 the cutoff level was 300 ng/ml but was raised in order to reduce the possibility of false positives from poppy seeds. The cutoff for GC-MS, which detects morphine or codeine, is 150 ng/ml. The US Military uses a cutoff level of 3000 ng/ml in order to try to avoid false positives.
So this is saying that in order to reduce a number of false positives there is an amount that you could take and as long as it was under the pre-determined amount it would not be considered?
If so, what the hell is ng/ml ? Whats is the weight or amount of 2000 ng/ml.
Thanks.

Thanks.

yes, the first test has a cutoff value below witch you will not test positive, hopefully
1ml = approx 1g for urine, but this isn't a useful thing to know if your trying to titrate your usage to evade detection

I hear what you are saying I am just trying to get a grasp or an idea of what I can and what I cannot do.
I'll be frank. How many ml are in a 50 mg pill?
Thanks for your help.

Milligrams is a measure of weight and milliliters is volume.
Quote:
2000 ng/ml
2000ng per 1 ml of piss. Were you stoned for 9th grade chemistry; ng does not stand for milliliters.

you really arent understanding this, it tests for quanitity of the metabolite in your urine, you wouldnt be able to have a reasonable dose of anything without testing positive

I just quoted the text verbatim from erowid. I have no idea what an ng is and I am guessing ml is for milliter. And yes I was probably fucked up during chem classes. Whoops, who knew that I would need this information one day. lol.

But there may be a chance of me coming in under the cut off amount making not enough of a positive right? I mean I gather that from I have read.
Thanks.

So it turns out that I wasn't drug screened at all. Knock on wood (head) I said sometime back that I was going to submit and go see some docs about my issues. And I think maybe after 3 months I have a better handle on the main issue and that is the self harm area. It has helped a lot. But I still take pills for numerous other issues that the docs seem fit to address. But I think the main problem has been addressed and is being dealt with continually.
I realize that these drugs are prescribed to me, but if you as an employer have two applications/resumes with the exact same credentials but one lists the meds he takes after a drug screen....who are you going to pick? You would take the lesser hassle right? That was what had me worried.
Thanks.
