Star Control 2
    #7841129 - 01/06/08 08:08 PM (16 years, 26 days ago)

Anybody played this game back in the day? It was an absolute classic.

If anybody is looking for a game to download and play, I'd recommend it. The source-code was released so the Star Control community took it and made it so it runs windowed on modern pc's. If you're interested you can get it here: http://sc2.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

For those who have played it, what is your favourite race? I liked the Ur-Quan, they were like the bad guys but they weren't really that bad.

Haha, you just gave away your age with that comment! Pretty sure SC2 was a 1992 game!

Well its not the original dos version, they use the 3DO version, so all the reading has voices with it too, the music is updated as well.

That was my favorite game on the Sega Genesis. I still have the console and game boxed up in my parents garage. Makes me want to pull it out again. I have SC3 for PC but really haven't gotten into it that much. Maybe I'll install it again and try it out again. Thanks for the memory.

I've never been too sure how to get the melee working across computers.

That and I wouldn't want to school you; I doubt you've ever seen an arilou skiff flown with such grace.

one person makes the game (host) and the other person connects to the host.

the (host) provides his IP address which is easy to find, to his opponent.

to connect to host, you type his IP address in where it says "local host"

gathering minerals starts to get a little old for me, i would suggest sticking to the quest and gathering it along the way to avoid that happening to you

but yah im getting a little bit into it again, played a couple hours today

theirs alot of other good games for dos, and websites where you can download the games for free legally

I played it back into 93 and now ever year or so I'll end up devoting a good week or two to it.

I love the soundtrack and the sheer enormity of the space to explore.
