Overlay and various other ranting

Day 7 of fruiting - i know it can take longer but now i have overlay. IT seems my mushy friends still think they should be vegetating and overlay is starting to occur.
1/2 pt jars Treasure Coast Mycodome - im a sucker i know
I did not add a casing after dunking under the assumption it only served as drawing more water into the cakes. Now i think i have gathered it also Helps stop overlay but yet i still assume they would eat the casing if they thought it was still vegetation time.
Now, should i add a casing, re-dunk? I moved my 15W yellow light closer to induce fruiting. I am not sure who to believe on terrerium temp, i can see the colder ( 75F - 78) but here most say 80F.
I also suggest for intellectual stimulation to gain a large magnifying glass to observe the growth. It is really stimulating to see the mycelium up close and personal.
Is spraying the cakes with a light mist ok and how much? I am not sure the RH due to my cheap temp gage but i would have to say it looks 100% and dont know how to lower it, higher temp, lower temp?
Thanks - Guy

could you be more specific as to how you're fruiting your cakes? have you crumbled them into trays for casing style fruiting? if you haven't, then it's impossible for you to have overlay, but I see that you say you haven't added a casing so it's still impossible for you to have overlay.

Your temps are fine, no need to worry about that. Your cakes are fine with no casing (by casing i assume you mean rolling in vermiculite). What does the mycodome thingy do for FAE? Stop goobering all over your cakes with that magnifying glass. Keep the misting up, what do you mean it looks 100% RH? Condensation is not indicative of high RH. Just let em be, give em what they need, and they'll be fine.

For FAE i open to terrerium but it is in a closet and i dont want to open a window so hopefully the air in the closet is good enough. I am very clean and also only look through the mag with a hat and breath mask and always gloves so i tend not to expose them much. I have good ster. habits. Thanks for the feed back, i will open for FAE more often and mist
Mist often? hehe - Guy

Fruiting out of pre-ordered ster. 1/2 pt jars. Not sure the mix, i assume 50/50... I could not completely remove the old layer of casing that was left on top of the cake without damaging them. I have noticed fuzzy mycelium coming out of the leftover casing which is very little. This is ok? This is not Overlay? Temp for fruiting has been around 75F for last 5 days. Dunked for over 24H due to work... 15W yellow bulb.

15W yellow bulb.
That would explain the no pins. You want a light at the other end of the spectrum. I'd suggest fluorescent tubes.

80F is fine if you can't get it lower, especially in the summer months. However, 70F to 75F is recommended.
You don't have overlay. Good luck. RR

Overlay happens on casings, you a fruiting cakes so stop worrying.
Change the light as RR said or expose the cakes to daylight.

I have a Loupe (30x) for this and it's great. Search ebay for 'loupe'.
