Difference b/t Cool Mist and Ultrasonic?

I always read in the guides, "I use a cool mist and an Ultra Sonic", althought on my martha I only use a humidifer (cool mist) and it uses sonic waves, but I don't know if that makes it an ultrasonic?
Any clarification and reason for using both is appreciated.

Cool Mists are evaporative, never use the wick type, only impeller types. Cool Mists don't stand up well to being tubed, but are good in small greenhouses.
Ultra-Sonics use sound to vibrate water into tiny droplets, vapor.
Cool Mists are lame in my opinion, but they do move air around and provide decent Rh.
An Ultra-Sonic tubed into a Shotgun FC with 5 inches damp perlite cannot be beat IMHO. Only use the ultra for periodic misting.

Coolmist is just a name nowadays as the original name owners let the name register expire. It gets stuck on everything. There are all kinds of coolmists ultrasonics, wick, impellers...
CHeck what system yours uses on the instructions.

Ive heard the same thing, but I consider this a myth until it proves to be true. I used shroomgod's coolmist tek for my greenhouse and have yet to have any problems with my coolmist burning out. And Ive read plenty of other members running the external setup with no problems.
