Exactly, because as I have stated before, I think music is like a microcosm of reality, that is essentially a metaphor for "consensus" reality--And that is why it hits us so hard, at many levels.
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7816005#7816005
Theories which the source was fun, lol.
To keep on the enviornment topic, though, and to continue to relate to music, I find the more complex the music is, the better it is to have something complex to stare at; What you are looking at better correlates to the music if said visual can be considered complex; all subjective?
A cluttered room with some clean areas to visualize everything from the complexities of Transiberian Orchestra to the beautiful simplicities of Marley.
I care less and less about environment, as I trip more and more, as the enviornment manifests itself psychologically and metaphorically, rather than physically.

A mostly dark room with a little bit of light, definitely. Candles or glowsticks and blacklights work best, IMO. With this setup, you can still kind of tell the general shapes and forms in reality but everything becomes hallucinatory.
Dark is neat but different. Light is neat but different, too. However, the method I outlined above is the best indoors scenario, IMO.
Nature at night is the best environment, though.

I once walked through forest before dawn while coming up on acid. There was no real sunshine, but you would still see everything. Due to he fact that there was no sunshine, you couldn't see no colors. With your regular eyes anyway. But the colors that came from your third eye applied to the real world. So all the trees, bushes, and grass appeared in bright orange and pink tones. It was craaazy.

I think a dark room with a candle as the lighting would be sweet
A dark forest would be amazing too, like notapillow said, a redwood forest... man that would be sweet

yeah if you want visuals close your eyes, i always have insane 3d closed eye visuals on shrooms. Then again the shrooms i have are so strong, i always get pretty crazy visuals. Stucco ceiling is really crazy to look at, trippy artwork too.
You want some mind-boggling shit play the game Portal in the Half life 2 orange box on shrooms. Man i did that and it takes that game to a whole other level.

The thing about a candle is that it flickers.
I need a still source of light, so I used to use two night lights I had when I was a kid.
I cant tell you all how many times I wanted that fucking candle light to settle down. Although the flam did have its own persona and had much to do with the trips that it flickered its way into.
I moved on to night lights and other tiny light sources. I liked low doses alot, so sometimes I wanted the light to be just right because on a high dose Its either the still dark or a long walk at night(for me).
Small amounts of light in a totally dark room, alone.
If I wanted ridiculous visuals thats what I would do.
I dont look for visuals in the way that some people might. I do have a feeling that this is most conducive to massive visuals though.
As someone else said. There is nothing like "fall". That shit is unreal in broad daylight, much like any other setting, but almost more so.
Its all breathtaking......Every setting. Dark and death/the end/the unknown. light and life, the end/the unknown. The middle ground, is just more palpable. Archetypes rule that word of preference.
A dimly lit room. Seems to fit for me.
We are only lightning rods headed directly toward the divine.
"any color you like"<---------------> pink floyd. Thats the song...................lol
Ya, that song cant do you wrong, and that much light and darkness in any setting cant do you wrong.
Any color you like.......................

Stay indoors. Green light wavelengths in nature will entirely affect your body's wakefulness for the trip, which will in turn affect the intensity of visuals. Indoors, you can become as comfortable as you find you can, which will put your body in a more "sleep-like" mode, thereby increasing the dream-like aspects of the trip.

"Echoes" by Pink Floyd off of Meddle. That song is ridiculous.
If you can, sync it up to the last sequence of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

It's a waste of the sacred experience - you could be sitting in a 100% darkened room sifting through your own psyche, exploring your hidden subconscious mind like the Aztecs and so many others preferred to do... rather than being distracted by the physical anchors of sex, consumerism, advertising and materialism that TV will inevitably throw in your face any chance they get to sell a product that we don't even need.
I watched planet earth while tripping and it was totally mind blowing.

I'm sure it was, heh.
I have to give an exception for Discovery Channel, because channels like that are the few that I actually consider time-worthy. Seriously.. the only channels I watch are History, Animal Planet, and Discovery.
I'd watch the Science Channel if I got it.
Learning is always fun.
