So after a long hiatus from this hobby i have returned and for my first venture back into the sport i have decided to try out coir/coffee as a substrate. Anyways I just returned from starbucks to acquire some spent coffee grounds and here is what i got:

the biggest bag of grounds ever!

that should be more than enough to last a while! i am planning on doing somewhere around a 60/40 ratio of coir to coffee in a 30 gal monotub, where the 60 is prolly going to be just one brick of coir, i have 6qts of rye done so not sure if i will just say fuck it and use all of it as spawn or only a couple qts. anyone have any tips or suggestion for this substrate, or more specifically getting the water content right with the coffee?

THe good thing about me living in a country that drinks real coffee is that there is a bar on every corner that tosses two or three bags a day (at least) like that, and they are all happy to give you the grounds. I could supply the whole shroomery with coffee grounds.

I gotta say that im getting really interested in coffee grounds, i need to try the coir/coffee sometime.
I work in the pub, so i can get tonnes of used coffee grounds from them
I dont need that much, i might just take a big jar into work now and then, and fill it up.

Coir is my favorite substrate to use and I always add some grounds to it,the only problem I see here is (Unless you use them all now) how will you prevent those grounds from growing mold
