ive been using staw. i get some big ass fruits but just not happy with the flushes and only get one good flush. i was advised to add shit or compost. so i scored some horse poo and i was wondering the difference between 100% poo and a mixture of poo and wheat straw. i have a lot of staw left and would like to use it up. should i be like road and use it strait or mix. other words is there a down side to using staw mixed with poo compared to using strait shit. if i do should i use 2/3 staw and 1/3 shit . thanks for any advise

You would benefit from adding wheat straw to the manure. Then you will have alot more carbohydrates. Manure supplies the nitrogen, and wheat straw is excellent for carbohydrates. The mixing ratio doesnt have to be exact, just play it by ear. bluhoney

Is this as important with horse manure? Every time I see decomposed horse manure on the trails, it looks almost like pure chopped straw.

Not really because a hourses stomach only digests the straw once, the majority of nutrients stay intact and are still usable. With cow manure, the straw eaten has been digested four times by the cows four stomachs, so in the cow manure case it would benefit alot, but with hourse poo it always helps, but not a whole lot. bluhoney

That was my guess. I have been using straight horse poo without problems, but I suspected cow manure would be different.

if your manure or straw are too wet just add cardboard (dry)under your substrate.
