Pins or Fruits?
    #7838375 - 01/06/08 07:20 AM (17 years, 14 days ago)

This is a pretty random question but I've searched and searched but can't seem to find a definition of when a pin becomes a fruit. Is it defined by the age of the pin or is it based on size? Kinda stupid but my room mate asked me and I wasn't able to give him a decent answer and now I'm curious.

ill probably be grilled for this by the 'chieftans' at large but MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION is a pin is a fruiting body being as it posesses a cap to even be a pin ... one would argue i guess that it is when it is actually mature enough to produce spores ..

For me (I don't know if it correct or not) if a pin does not abort it becomes a fruit, so I would call it fruit from the moment it starts to grow in size (i.e. hasn't aborted)
