Could it also be chemicals? If it was bad genes, wouldn't they all have it or not necessarily?

Put them out of their misery and shoot them in the head. It's the humane thing to do.

the grower thought it could be due to the use of a few drops of iodine in water used for humidity(aquarium heater submersed in water at the bottom of an experimental fc). however another grow from the same batch of grain is now producing similar fruits, and this is in a different fc, using different methods and no iodine. there was mention of rehydrating both casings with fish tank water as an alternate experiment.

I've experienced those. I thought it was due to inconsistent and possibly insufficient sunlight cycles, but it doesn't seem to be the problem with those

RR said the other day that lysol is mostly just spray alchol and does nothing to cause mutations.

Lysol is not known to cause mutations, especially mutations like that.

thanks for the tip. i searched for rosecomb. not much info, and i don't think that's what this is. rosecomb looks like it's a growth on the cap. these are the original cap curling up.

Lysol is OK, but petroleum products will cause rosecomb. Perhaps you sprayed some WD-40 or something similar on a lock or squeaky door? It's hard to tell if that's what it is, because I've seen strains that just do that sometimes.
