Who do you bank with?

Im looking to open a new savings and/or checking account. I currently bank with Huntington but Ive been very unhappy with their service. Chase is also out of the question.
I thought I saw a commercial for TD Ameritrade advertising that they had savings accounts, but when I looked on the website, I cant seem to find one.
Anyways, Just looking for a suggestion on who you have had good experience banking with. I only have 200$ to put into the account as my opening deposit, so Im somewhat limited. Also I know some banks offer some nice incentives to switch, if you know of any post em

I just talked with a rep at TD and for anyone interested, what it is, it's a individual account with all the brokerage options.
Theres no minimum balance no inactivity fee free checking and debit services and while you dont have the money invested, it sits in a money market account currently @ 1.15% for under 10,000$ which is a little better than the banks ive been checking so far Also you get the perks of all the stock tools that Ameritrade has to offer
Seems like a pretty good deal to me

I've been using TD Ameritrade for three years, for my brokerage and IRA accounts. But for standard checking, it's been Wells Fargo for the last decade. My local branch is very kind, and they have a nifty free drink machine in the lobby - where I can get Swiss Hot Chocolate! Not to mention, if I'm a dunce and overdraw my account, they have always refunded any related penalty fees just for asking. They also don't charge me for services such as Gold Medallion Stamps (which other banks such as Washington Mutual don't even offer, and other banks often charge for). On that note, I have used WaMu for a property management account over the last 6 months, and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. A lousy service (or simply lack of service) from a lousy bank.
I like TD Ameritrade because it will help emphasize investing, which I believe is a very good thing to start getting into at any time. On the downside, if you plan to draw money from an ATM, you'll probably end up paying more fees with them since they don't operate their own ATM's (to my knowledge).
I'd also look into charles SCHWAB, as they are advertising a 4% APY checking account, no minimum, no service charges, free checks, free bill pay, FDIC insured, and it even sounds like they're refunding all ATM fees as well. You can't really beat that... though there is some fine print on the refundable ATM fees that I haven't read myself. Even so, 4.0% yield on a checking account?!

Hey I have that account! There's no fine print. The ATM fees are refunded automatically, you don't even have to save the receipts and mail them in. The free checks for life and the 4% APY is great. Also they gave me an $8,000 overdraft credit line. They're great, I highly recommend them. Fidelity also has something similar except it's 3% APY and comes with a 1.5% cash-back credit card.

I took the advice and opened a schwab account last night. they seem to have everything I could want, including free ATM cash withdrawls and a Visa check card. I will probably open up a local bank account as well, but im willing to atleast experiment with schwab and see how it turns out.

I actually have Bank of America, It's been good so far, I once forgot to cancel a subscription for something online, and was charged $29 for the subscription and a $35 overdraft fee. I bought two things after that thinking I had a few dollars in it before that transaction was made and was charged $35 of overdraft two more times! That's a lot of money, I went to the bank, ready to vent and yell, because I just wanted that money back, even though it was my fault, I didn't even have to yell though. Once I got there I told them that it was a mistake on the vendor side and they refunded the 2 $35 fees they charged after the subscription. I was satisfied to at least have most of my money back, and the merchant refused to give me a refund so I just called it quits.

but why not just go with a small local bank that only needs $5 to open up a checking and savings account. Plust they dont have millions of dollars to work with to use your money in lucrative ways so i say credit unions ftw. The one I go to gives me free checks and free everything, plus theres only like idk maybe 200 people with accounts there so the people that work there are all cool with everyone, i walk in drinking beers, sit down for awhile. Its way better then Bank of America
