Oh yeah, sweet potatoes are a favorite. Either raw or cooked with nothing on them.

Here is a photo comparison of two 650 calorie meals from my nutrition.... thing (fitday pay version).

The quinoa meal is a cup of quinoa.

The steak meal is an 8 ounce sirloin steak with fat, and steamed spinach.

Notice how the only part where quinoa wins is in the maganese and magnesium departments. In other departments it is absolutely blown away.

Especially thanks to the fact that quinoa offers little to no fat and cholesterol (which are very beneficial.) though it does offer some polyunsaturated fats (which I would like to know the omega ratio on. Even though meat is VERY good at regulating that. especially truly organic meat).

The quinoa also has 110 grams of carbohydrates which, even though it is a complex carb, could put strain on the pancrease and will most likely release at least some kind of insulin response.

Also note which meal is more filling. I've had a cup of quinoa before, and simply wanted another cup afterwards. It really isn't that much at all. But the steak dinner is a whole 8 ounce steak with a cup of steamed spinach. Since cutting out carbohydrates (save for veggies) I've been satiated so much more easily. An 8 ounce steak and cup of veggies would either leave me full for a VERY long time, or make me decide to cut it into two meals which I usually do.

It just dawned on me, veritas, that you are probably a vegetarian. Which is fine, but I doubt that I'd be able to win you over. Even though I know that the link to animal products and cancer/heart disease is an entirely false one (based on reading, research, talking to people, and life experience). Good Calories, Bad Calories also mentions that with plenty of sources. It's not just a book about "bad carbs".

Whatever.  Feel free to choose your own diet as you please.  If you are so certain that your non-scientific sources are correct, then your own health will be the experiment.

I have plenty of sources. Just not on hand. Then again, that book that I like to tote has over 100 pages of sources.

So far I haven't seen anything convincing about animal fat, at all.

My health HAS been an experiment. So far I've dropped down to 10% bodyfat, have energy through the roof, better focus, better skin, better hair, better sleep, better sex drive, better moods, no fatigue, and great bloodwork. 100/60 blood pressure, low triglycerides, and all nutrients in check. I need to get my cholesterol checked again (I had it not long enough after diet switch), but I'm sure it's in order. All of these results are common in people who stick to low-carb diets for more than two weeks.

The massai, inuits, and buffalo hunting Indians are also good examples.

EDIT: DAMN! I forgot to mention that I was on a low GI high carb diet for 6 MONTHS beforehand and felt like shit the whole time. I ate plenty of lean meats, whole grain bread, oats, whole wheat pasta, supplemented omega 3's, and ate my veggies.

If you are good at digesting meat then go ahead and do so. Unlike yourself, most folks eat meat to the point that it severely slows the bowls. This is where the disease starts. I have been eating a very vegetarian diet lately, but last night I ate three chicken breasts in one meal. The trick is to get plenty of fiber. I took some psyllum husks about 20 min after finishing. The ease of digestion was also aided by proper food combining. Don't mix starches and meats. Each is digested a different way and these differences lead to them interfering one another.

I did a low carb diet once for about 6 months. I got to where I only needed to take a shit about every 10 days. At the time I thought that it was a benefit...

Yes. I ate meat and leafy vegetables. I did lose a little weight (50 pounds), but in the end the diet became bland to me. I have found a good macro nutrient ratio to be 20% fat, 35% protein, and 45% carbs, with all of the carbs as complex carbs. I consume very little sugar and processed grains. I do eat unprocessed cereals, but I do not eat any processed meats. I eat a total of 2600 calories per day. On this diet (with exercise) I have lost about 150 lbs.

Whoa! Good job!

Though I can never understand how people can get tired of low carb food. IMO we have a better. Oh well, as long as you found something that works and are sure that you are doing well.

I would recommend low carb for someone wanting to lose a chunk of weight quick, but it does top out quickly. Weirdly enough I would recommend a vegan diet for someone wanting to shed pounds quick as well. I spent 3 weeks as a vegan last summer, under Icelander's full direction (he even cooked the food), and I dropped 15 pounds in about 10 days without watching calories.

Hemp seed and fruit.

I could live quite healthily on those things alone, with water of course. Although variety is important.

I've been eating mostly vegan, other than 98% lean whole turkey breast slices (like ten slices or so) and in the past four days I've felt a whole lot more...energetic.

And man, I have NEVER shit so much in so little time!

A good small piece of wild or organic meat is perfectly healthy and I think it's ridiculous to assert that it isn't. The issue is how much and what else you're eating.

My ideal list of food items includes:

Venison - wild meat tends to be lean and relatively chemical free
wild salmon - omega fatty acids
wild berries (salmon, salal, saskatoon, huckle, thimble, etc.)- yum.
quinoa
hemp seeds
sunflower seeds
kale
tomatoes
goat cheese (in small quantities)
apple cider vinegar
rosemary
sage
thyme
garlic
ginger
plain yogurt
eggs
olive oil
chick peas

I dont believe most of the people who eat non-organic, factory raised meat and love it, would make an animal endure through what happens during the FIRST VIDEO. Honestly speaking, thats beyond what i expected.....
_____________________________________________________________________
hello fellows.

Alot of people know that animals are treated quite badly when they are being slaughtered for eating. And some do not.

If you do not eat Organic Free-run meats. You will want to take a look at this video from you tube showing the methods that they use to grow the animals for meat. To grow things that feel pain like me and you.

If you do not eat organic chiken, pigs and beef, you are putting your health at a serious disadvantage, in these videos you will be given reasons why, but also shows the way the meat you eat, is raised.

I also acknowledge that good and bad, only exist in the persons mind to choose. I have not come here and tried to scare anyone, i am not here to scream you are evil if you eat meat.

I DO WANT TO KNOW WHAT MAKES YOU DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL KEEP EATING INORGANIC MEAT, AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEOS.

I came here to show you to know that you have been kept in the dark, about what has been happening...they simply have and cannot show people how they do this to the animals because they would loose millions in profits.

Observe that you play the most important part in the process, because without people like me(just today i stopped and you to buy the meat from the people who own these factorie farms, there would be no profits and no reason to do this.

I know some people do not care about the animals, in the way they would care about a human and if you dont, be true and watch the videos, see how you feel after watching them and prove it. I know many who have said they dont care, but after watching one of them, they realized that they did care, they just didnt know specifically what they didnt care for.

All videos are no longer than 2-3 mins. If at all, and there is a prime example of an organic farm for the final video.

Pigs Warehouse Farms

Organic Farm Animals live a life where they roam on in outdoors and at the very worst(publically traded corporate organic companies) are in a warehouse with no roof lots of sunlight and loving contact with other animals, where conditions in the worst oganic warehouses are much more hygenic(ie..the animals dont eat each others shit and are tended to if they have broken legs, for example.  The actualy organic farms, that encompass most organic meats are like the one mentioned in the last video.

This video is a short clip showing how some of the pigs that you eat after, are killed.

This is the conditions they spend 3-5 years alive.

Cow Warehouse Farms

The dairy cows are exactly the same!

There is hope!!!!!

Those happy pictures of animals, are from real farms who are loosing popularity and money to stay practicing these types of practices!

Organic Animal farming!

I wish you all peace. Thank you for letting me share!

And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change.

Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems.

Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....

dandellion's are a good source of nutrition.

I had a fresh picked dandellion and tuna salad for breakfast.

to prepare:
bring a pot of water to a boil, toss is some dandellion leaves, boil for 3-5 minutes and then taste a leaf to see if the bitterness is gone, if not, boil a little long. don't exceed about 6 or 7 minutes because it'll start turning to a mush. strain, add some tuna, green olives, salt and pepper, a few squirts of lemon juice, then top it with some dandellion flowers.

--lots of vitamins and antioxidants, cleans out your liver and blood system, does some good work on your glands and such
