Humidity is not must during the colonization period and you can keep your temp between 68 and 78 safely for your first grow. Patience is always nice I try to just forget about them. And as a complete newbie myself at one time, don't get the urge to take the lid off to see if there's any growth..just wait until it's fully colonized and don't forget about waiting a few days AFTER the outside is fully colonized to allow for the center to colonize as well, but I'm sure you knew that. I use tap water but if you smell the chlorine in it I'd probably buy some mineral water or evaporate the chlorine off, you can find methods via the search, should be your best friend, trust me read read read until you can't anymore..many sleepless nights but it's worth it in the long run. I use Doc's WBS Tek it is very simple and it's great for spawning but I just fruit the cakes with results I like, one of my cakes fruited 4 times and it's trying for a 5th but the cake pinned and now stalled so I think it's out of nutes! But anyways I hope some of this helped and good luck welcome to the shroomery!

you are very gracious in your words of wisdom ty ! i seen the tek u refer to .. in the mental data banks for future consideration .. tap water was a worry .. i thought as much on the humidity but wanted to be certain .. jars retain their own moisture i suspect .. d&r tek after would be sufficient for fruiting i suspect ... ty for the welcome btw .. the world of shroomery is quite exciting and justified with such cordial greetinngs ..cheers ..

Yeah it's no problem..before long you will learn all of the steps by heart and it won't be such a tough and drawn out process as you learn about how long each step takes and how to perform them all properly, then you will be the one passing on the wisdom in the future, my friend. Yes the jars will hold your moisture adequately(if added that way). Yes this place had pretty welcome arms for myself and 99% of the people are great and very helpful as long as you prove you can use the search button..lol I truly do love this place as I think you will also just never give up and learn from every mistake. RR and Roadkill(LGM DVD) are always great sources for info as are all the mods(via search/post replies). And the dunk and roll is right for keeping the humidity on the outside of your cakes near 99% for fruiting. May I ask what kind of terrarium you will be using? I am now using a Martha with an Ultrasonic and a Vicks KAZ. It's working out nice, wish I had gotten them earlier..lol Anyways catch ya later!

Believe it or not but the ones on the left were WAY more potent INE WBS cakes

Humidity is not a concern during colinisation, only in fruiting.
I have no problems using tap water, it gets sterilised anyway during steam/pressure cooking.
Unlesss your tap water is really bad then u will want to use bottled or distiled water.
