help.. building a new computer (suggestions please)

Ok, first of all, the last 3-4 computers I have built from scratch have been just fine, and used to be much cheaper, although it seems these days it's not much more to have one custom-made and prebuilt. In fact, it's either cheaper, or not more than 2-300 more, plus that usually comes with a 3 yr warranty on all parts.
Plus, I really hate applying thermal glue, and checking for bad ram, installing video card drivers, etc. I am more than willing to pay a small premium for all of that.
That being said, over the past 3 months I have narrowed my decision down to 2 main choices. I recently excluded cyberpowerpc.com from my list, due to the horrible reviews I've read online. I went with either KC or Vigor because of their awesome reviews, across the board.
I was originally going to get a dell / HP, but none of them offer regular MoBos, or regular cases, or the new GTS 8800 512 video card, or anything other than proprietary stuff anyways. Sooo....
Both systems have intel quad q6600 processors, 2gb ddr2/800 RAM, 500gb hard drives, creative x-fi audio soundcards, nvidia 8800 GTS 512 video cards, vista home premium, and wireless cards. I will only list the differences:
KC-Computers.com: $2,070
ASUS P5N32-E SLI (can do 2xSLI at 16x) zalman fan+heatpipe coolermaster cosmos 1000 case (this is the big advantage of KC for me) Thermaltake 600W power *1 year warranty
VigorGaming.com: $1,880
asus P5N-E SLI monsoon II w/LCD display (fan) enermax noisetaker 600w power *3 yr warranty
The biggest differences:
KC can eventually support dual video cards, if I wanted to get another, plus it should be a very quiet machine, which is important to me. The motherboard is better, and the case is probably the best on the market, without question.
Vigor is obviously much cheaper, and has a longer warranty. The downside is that it will be loud (mostly due to the fan selection, which are all loud). On the upside, the computer would run much cooler, but with a smaller plastic case. Also, if I wanted to upgrade to support dual video cards, they would only run at 8x, instead of 16x.
Hopefully someone can nudge me in one direction or the other... or even refer me to another good pc-builder with better prices?

my only issue with going the newegg route (which is what I would normally do) is that I don't have a 100% track records. I have cracked more than a couple motherboards, and accidentally knocked off transistors and capacitors when trying to remove a fan from the CPU.
I am more than competent, but at the same time I am willing to pay someone extra to take the blame if something goes wrong during the install. I couldn't bear risking a new system with all of that. In a few years when it's old, I'll probably have no problems cracking it open and tinkering around.
The warranty is not much of an issue.
here's the newegg price:
Newegg.com: $1,650
(that's with the case I want). You know, $400 is a huge difference. Maybe I'm just being timid about putting it together without breaking something.

ah, you convinced me. plus, newegg approved me for waaayyy more credit than anyone else so far, and they offer no payments until feb 2009. Sounds like a win. thanks for the nudge.

thanks... i even managed to cut some more costs, it's now about 1500 total, but not sure if everything would be compatible / enough power / enough slots. I'm pretty sure it's ok, but I'd like to be positive

thanks! +5 shrooms!
i looked into the MoBo some more, and I think the one i originally picked will be just fine. It seems that PCI Express 2.0 only really comes into play if using dual SLI cards, which I would just upgrade my MoBo if that were the case in the future, especially if it means a MoBo with an extra PCI slot, and over $100 less.
I did change the memory and the power supply though.. great catches on both, thanks!
Here's the new setup, $100 more (due to the memory and PSU):
