New Phone
    #7833094 - 01/04/08 06:58 PM (16 years, 28 days ago)

I got a BlackJack2 today. Already im wondering if this phone is the right thing. my computer speakers are really sensitive to the signals from cell phones and it seems this phone 'talks' to the network alot more often than my old phone. Is that data? I havnt used either the email or browser yet and already with the speaker chirping. Are these smartphones really worth it?

Every phone I've ever used seems to have the same effect you're describing. Though, when I would hear the noise through my computer speakers/TV, it was only when I'd get an incoming call, text, send texts, analog mode (trying to find the digital signal), etc. The phone you've got seems to have a lot more features than the one's I own/have owned, so there might be some other things running in the background that are sending data to and from your phone.

Well, a simple question I'd ask to you is, does it make your life any easier? I, myself, am happy with just texts and calls. Laptops and WiFi aren't going to become unavailable anytime soon. I'm just not really into the whole camera phones, internet while you're on the go, etc stuff. But that's just me! Looks like a nice phone, though.

Cheers

A human being is part of a whole, called by us, the "Universe", a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

What were your reasons for opting for a smartphone in the first place? Secondly, was there any reason you opted for the blackjack?

I just switched over to a smartphone (HTC touch). My primary reason was for scheduling. After about a month, it's a godsend. The calendar feature and scheduling alone makes it worth it. On top of that, I have unlimited internet access, text, and very shortly the phone is supposed to be updated with GPS.

All in all, one of the better electronics purchases I've made.

Another practical question: Is speaker noise from the comp that big of a deal? How often are you using the phone next to your computer?
