Burying cakes out side
    #7832706 - 01/04/08 04:58 PM (17 years, 16 days ago)

Okay so I've heard RR say in several different posts to bury contaminated cakes outside with cow manure under a shady tree. I guess my only question is, RogerRabbit, how deep should I bury them and how much manure to cover them with?

i buried mine in my flower bed on the shady side of my house about 3-4 inches deep. i waited for about a week with no luck. then one day it rained quite a bit. next morning there was 10-15 shrooms coming up through the mulch.

Yeah but that doesn't mean my back can dig through frozen ground. But, that does make it easier--I won't have to worry about a late frost.

I'm sure mycelium can withstand -20 degrees Celcius, but that doesn't mean it's gonna grow at -20 degrees Celcius....

I wouldn't expect it to, but if it is to suvive a frost, when summer comes along and conditions develop for fruiting, YEAH! You know, in the long run it's just something to do.
