Using LSD and creating prolonged anxiety and depression?

Ive seen mentions of the link between Anxiety and LSD and heres my situation.
Ive always had an anxious like personality, and have been using LSD since Christmas night of '06. Probably dosed about 20 times since. The last was a few months ago and was the only 'bad' trip Ive had.
It went fine for the first few hours, with the exception of a large amount of tension. Then I tried eating something, and for the next few hours I felt like I was choking. Eventually a spotter calmed me down and Im,clearly, not dead, lol.
Additionally I have seasonal allergies, which cause some difficulty in breathing, and some form of acid reflux.
Ive been trying to determine since what probably cause the problem, and wether to continue using LSD.
Recently Ive decided to seek out treatment for this, and have been prescribed Zoloft. I have no intentions of dosing while using the medication.
I am looking for some clarity on just what happened and if LSD can change brain chemistry and cause long term Anxiety and Depression issues.
ANY and all relevant information is MORE than appreciated.

20 times in one year is too much LSD IMO. Yes LSD can change brain chemistry, and yes its use can cause psychological problems such as anxiety and depression if you are prone to it.
Everyone is different, however. You are the only person who truly knows yourself and knows your limitations and whether you should take a certain substance. If you've developed some kind of clinical depression I'd say the LSD has taken a toll on your neurochemical functioning (i.e. serotonin) and you should probably take a break for a while.

3 times a month average seems to me way in excess of anything I could deal with I have no idea what dosage levels you were taking but for me I couldn't trip that often. Place and situations can trigger anxiety in me when tripping. When I had issues that I wasn't dealing with tripping would bring them to the forefront of my mind and that would make for a depressing time often lasting long after the trip was over.Anxiety attacks can manifest in all sort of weird ways shortness of breath feeling like smothering pressure in chest and probably a 1000 other ways. My advice would be back off tripping for awhile till you deal with what ever is stressing you.
