Drying Mushies With Food Dehydrator

So, this will be my first time drying mushies. I have heard to put the mushies in the dehydrator on the lowest temp (around 90) for 24 hrs. My question is this: Do i have to prepare the mushies any specific way for the dehydrator?
For example, when i dry certain fruits in the dehydrator...it helps to put the fruits on aluminum foil. I have an Excalibur food dehydrator that has trays with some kind of weaved material. Many fruits get sticky and stick to this material on the tray. What do you guys use when you dry them on the tray? Should i put the mushies on foil or on something else?
Thanks...Ill send pics soon! =) ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just lay them out on the dehydrator trays with ample space between each and it seems to get the job done in around 36 hours, 24 hours might not let them get cracker dry but that depends on the size of the shroom I guess, obviously bigger ones with more water take longer to dry.
I have the Nesco dehydrator and I use it on lowest setting of 95F for 36 hours for good results, then immediately vacuum seal with a FoodSaver and store in the fridge until they're ready to be consumed.

I have heard that heat does not cause potency loss, i remember a discussion a while back where a member stated that he had far great success in maintaining potency drying them at hotter temps to get them cracker dry quicker and into airtight containers.
He stated that potency loss is not caused by heat, but by oxidation.
I have no opinion its just something a read a while back.
Please search the forum there are tons of posts on dyhdrators

my food dehydrator runs at 140F or below, usually just barely below 140 though i've experienced no loss in potency from using a food dehydrator
some of my shrooms tend to be rather large, so i usually have to pull the caps off as for them sticking that's gonna happen no matter what bro, you just gotta learn how to pick em up right lol
i would advise not putting tin foil in there with drying, airflow is the major factor, heat isn't that big of a deal

I thought ones that use heat are bad.

potency loss due to heat happens at much higher temperatures than that produced by food dehydrators
mine gets fairly warm and I always have decently potent mushrooms, with testament from others to back it up

I think that heat related potency loss is more of an issue when say, frying up the shrooms to put them in an omelette than drying them at say 115ºF. That is hardly hot is it? It will get as hot as that in some countries in the summer.

Some countries?
Try Alabama-ish. Gets fairly warm around here.

Oxidation is a chemical reaction which is sped up by heat. See the Arrhenius equation.
Heat doesn't speed up the drying much vs. room temp fan-based drying. So you're taking about almost the same time to dry but your actives are degrading faster.
The rule of thumb is that the reaction rate doubles for every 10C increase.

Heat will only speed up drying in areas where normal ambient humidity is high.
Your dehydrator will be sucking air from outside and circulating it past the shrooms. If your ambient RH is 20%, heating the air up might lower it some but it isn't a really significant difference as 20% RH is dry anyway
On the other hand, if your ambient air is at 60% RH, heating the air will lower the RH, and in that case the lowering will make a significant difference.
