Ultra-Sonic Humidity

My foaf's Canadian cousin has been doing some experiments with Ultra-Sonics.
The Wind-chaser desk top model ultra is easy to mod using standard shop vac tubs and adapters.
The spout comes off easily, leaving a 1 1/4 inch tube that fits a reducer perfectly. He cut a slightly smaller hole in the top of his FC, and fit a 2 foot length of shop vac hose from the ultra to the FC lid.
The ultra sits nicely atop the FC.
With no holes his ultra can saturate the air inside a 176 quart FC within 5 minutes.
With 14 3/8 inch holes drilled along the bottom, 12 1/4 inch holes drilled into the top half of the short sides, and 4 3/8 inch holes drilled into the lid a 1 minute on, 1 minute off cycle tops the FC out at about 98%, with near continuous air exchange.
There are also 4 hole drilled into the bottom of the FC, to drain water into another identical bin which it sits on, with matching holes drilled into it's lid.
The table/drain tub keeps the FC off the floor and provides drainage a place to go.

What type of timer are you using for 1 min intervals?

I should say 50/50 on/off, wish I could find a timer like that!
I have 15 minutes on/off and 30 minutes on/off.

I use a intermatic from Lowe's (or of-the-sort store) 14 on and off programs down to a min a piece. Around 20 bucks!! I'm still tweaking how long to keep my ultra sonic on for considering I also have input and output fans times to coincide with the ultrasonic.

I have the same/similar kind on order, 98 events per day.
Well, that's the whole issue right, timing.
I think Roger and others are right about hole.
No need for fans or electricity, with enough holes there is near continuous air exchange and Rh at 95-99% using only an ultra sonic timed perfectly.
Watch it closely for a few cycles. Let the ultra saturate, and time how long it takes then turn it off.
Watch the Rh and visually to see when the vapor has dissipated and humidity has dropped.
When you think the Rh has dropped too low, time the ultra to kick in for only as long as it takes to get to 99%.
I don't think fans are needed to automate.

The timer on the left has 96 events in a 24 hour period .... 15 minute increments ...... It is made by Brinks and is available at Walmart for $7.
I have a couple of these and am setting them up for ultrasonic misting in a shotgun style FC. I fear that a 15 minute on cycle may oversaturate the chamber .....
novicemycology, tell me about the Intermatic timer at Lowes. Really ? 1 minute increments?! for $20 .... interesting...

Cool, experiment. Drill less holes at first, you can always drill more.
Plus, something that does not get mentioned often but that which I think is relevant, is that, the more holes you drill the less effective they become.
This seems clear if you follow the logic through, that there is a certain amount of hole space that will actually equalize the camber with the room, reducing the effectiveness of holes for FAE.
