Editeed, found a better picture, that just a hole cut in the lid with cling film taped on.

No need to worry about a clear lid

light is a big deal. you want 12/12 cycle for fruiting. check out rr's brf video tek on youtube and it'll have a good fruiting chamber for smaller to medium grows. perlite is available at homedepot or lowes.

are you saying that light is a big deal because you have grown many times and changed the lighting enough to know what works and what doesnt?
Or did you just watch rr video and you are repeating something that you do not know to be true?

Light isnt as big as a deal as most make it to be. natural indirect light is fine, sitting in the corner of your bedroom is fine. Sitting in your closet with the light off and the door open is fine.

yes I have actualy done side by side grows with clones using different lighting. With proper lighting you do get significantly better results. i'm not saying that you can't grow shrooms with inderect lighting i'm just saying when you meet optimal growth paramiters there is a noticable difference.

as far as the lid goes i found a clear shower curtain works better than cling wrap just because it is more durable

I don't know but I've been told. It's hard to run with the weight of gold                                                                  On the other hand I heard it said. It's just as hard with the weight of lead.

I appreciate all of your guys' help. I've decided to use a 54qt tub, which I've drilled some holes in and cut one out of the lid, it didn't come with a clear one. I'll be innoculating my jars later this week. Wish me luck on my first grow, hoping for some success:mushroom2:
