A cause of death ruling today in the death of a 19-year-old college student last summer was homicide, linked to drug abuse.
William Parker Martin's death August 16th officially was ruled a homicide linked to delirious behavior due to LSD intoxication. Powell Caesar, spokesman in the office of the Cuyahoga County coroner Doctor Frank Miller, says the ruling indicated that police who arrested Martin are not at fault for the death.
Caesar says the coroner's office took over four months to make that ruling because the coroner was waiting on toxicology reports and was careful to make sure the evaluation was done right.
The dead man's mother has filed a lawsuit seeking police records to determine whether police may have used excessive force on her son.

So you ruled it a homicide, but the people who murdered him are "not at fault"? WTF?

Coroner: LSD led to college student's mysterious death http://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080103/UPDATES01/80103025
CLEVELAND (AP) -- A college student who died during a struggle with police was killed by a drug-induced heart attack, and the officers who had tried to arrest him were not at fault, a coroner said Thursday in a long-awaited ruling that still left some questions unanswered.
An attorney for the mother of William Parker Martin, 19, said she still suspects excessive force was used on her son, who was released from a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center a day before his death on Aug. 16.
Martin, who police said had broken into a home, had LSD in his system and suffered an acute psychotic episode. He died of cardiopulmonary arrest as police from suburban Broadview Heights attempted to subdue him, said Powell Caesar, a spokesman for Cuyahoga County Coroner Dr. Frank Miller.
The coroner's office took more than four months to make the ruling as it waited on toxicology reports, Caesar said.
Martin's death also was ruled a homicide, which would allow a prosecutor to charge Martin's drug supplier with a crime, including manslaughter. It is unclear where Martin got the drug.
His mother, Tanya Martin, filed a lawsuit Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court against Broadview Heights police to gain access to police reports, videotapes, photographs and any other evidence related to her son's death.
Her attorney, Larry Zukerman, said Thursday he found the coroner's report interesting but still questioned the officers' actions. Tanya Martin is "certainly confident the truth will prevail in the end," Zukerman said.
A message seeking comment was left Thursday for Broadview Heights police Chief Robert Lipton.
Lipton told The Plain Dealer in a story published Thursday that he asked Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to review the case, but he also said he has no reason to suspect the officers did anything wrong.
William Parker Martin, who lived in suburban Brecksville and was a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., was naked when he broke into an elderly couple's apartment about 2 a.m. Aug. 16 and asked to use the shower, police said. He then fought with the people living there.
When police arrived, Martin jumped out of a window and ran. An officer tackled him, and, after a scuffle, was able to subdue Martin, who repeatedly yelled, "I want to die," according to a police report.
It took three officers to handcuff him, and Martin bit one of them, police reported.
Then, according to police, Martin suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. Officers took turns administering CPR until an emergency medical crew arrived. Martin was pronounced dead on arrival at Parma Community General Hospital

...I am confused as to how the dealer killed him?
The dealer didn't force this person to take LSD or anything. When you get alcohol from a liquor store and get alcohol poisoning or a drunk driving accident, do you blame the car dealer or the liquor store? No. You take fuckin responsibility.
These people have a lot of nerve denying the fact that they may have possibly killed this person.

Saying someone died of a heart attack is the equivalent of saying that they died because they failed to continue living. Your heartbeat stopping is generally the criteria for being declared dead.
I'm sure the severe beating, pepper spray, billy clubs, tasers, etc. that they probably used on him had nothing to do with his heart stopping.

I knew him. He meant absolutely everything to me. The papers didn't even tell everything about what happened. it took 25 minutes for an ambulance to get there, when he was like 5 minutes away from the police station. Idk. I just want his name to be cleared. He didn't deserve it. Cause, they took his life, and in the process, they hurt so many people.
