Trich Epidemic

It seems that every inoculation I have attempted has ended up being contaminated with trich. This is my sixth attempt. I've read that trich will stick around for years waiting on a host.
My house is almost 100 years old and poorly insulated. I have a problem with mold growing on windows, etc, etc. I do believe however my sterilization and sanitation techniques are up to par as far as inoculation goes.
I'm incubating using the Tub-in-Tub method. Perhaps trich is penetrating my incubation chamber and contaminating jars? Anyone have any experience using one of those HEPA filters wal-mart carries? Also, what kills trich other than salt? I've heard that bleach won't do it? Thanks.

Are you using grains or pf?
Flame sanitizing the needle?
With trich that bad you should probably invest in a glovebox, as its rare for contaminants to be introduced during incubation.

You should also allow jars to colonize at room temperature. Elevated temperatures favor molds over mushroom mycelium.
Review your sterile procedures. Nobody has a worse mold-infested building to live in than I do, with black mold everywhere. I can't wait to sell this place, but in the meantime I can grow mushrooms. . . Very carefully.
Mold spores are introduced after sterilization, so check your inoculation and jar filtering procedures. Department/hardware store hepa filters are worse than worthless. They stir the air around, compounding the problem. I have five or six of them sitting in my shed because they increased contaminaion, rather than the other way around. You don't want strong drafts in your growing areas. RR

Thanks RR. I am however using a glovebox which I bleach before use and lysol very well. I also use my alcohol lamp to flame the needle. Maybe the spore syringe is contaminated. Better luck next time huh? P.S. I have tried both WBS and PF....PF more times than WBS.

I would try another syringe. Out of all the syringes I've made only one was contam'ed. Anything I enjected with it got the same contam.
