But over 600 bucks? They sell birds like that at a flea market around here for less than half that.

I know you got a discount but geez.....

thats awesome. so pretty.
is it a young one or is it at full size? the ones on that wikipedia page don't look like they get that big though.

my friend comes home from kansas the other day and he says his parents bought not one but two dysfunctional parrots. the male one has anxiety attacks (lol) and pulls his feathers out and the female hates women and can freak out on them. i was like just like wtf.

beautiful little bird you have there though...

oh yeha its a pretty highly seclised sub species. its like the cadilac of conures... hehe or so i have read.
but alot of the cost, about 200 or so, was just for his vacsinations. parrots can carry real bad viral stuff that can transfer to humans. that and he was hand fed since birth and raised really well.
bla bla bla
point being hes fluffy and fun to play with.

the bunny is pissed tho

Good news that it's a young one.

I had a conure once that was on it's 3rd owner. Bad news. The little fucker would act like he wanted a kiss then grab hold of my lip with his beak!

One thing to pay attention to that I didn't know til I owned a large bird is they have a sense of humor.

Good luck with him and treat him well so there's not another neurotic parrot running around.

This was our mullican cockatoo named Candy

She had had several neglectful owners, had a quarantine band from the 70's (she was caught in the wild)
Became a self-mutilator and had extreme emotional problems.
We got her after the last owners didn't want her, in their care she broke her wing and they didn't take her to the vet - so it never was reset and she was unable to fly until her death.
Still when she didn't try and attack me for walking by her cage or throwing peanuts at me she could be very sweet and want only love.

When you have a bird as a pet, do you let them out to fly around every once in a while?

That is my biggest issue with keeping these gorgeous animals as pets...they are born to fly who are we to prevent them from doing so?

yeah, especially when they have been caught from the wild and are now in cages. It's just sad. We let our bird out for a couple hours everyday (our dog would have ate it if not for the cage) She couldnt fly so she just walked like a duck and stared at her feet while walking, looking amazed.

Holy shit! $400 for a Sun? Somebody's making a killing.

I've got a Black Cap and my girl has a Green Cheek. One of my first choices was a Sun but they're very loud compared to a BC or GC. Suns are very gentle, though. Extremely beautiful as well, especially when they mature.

Howdy Tangerines! I'm J-Rod, 'tis a pleasure to meet ya.

I hope that anyone that considers having a bird as a pet at least THINKS about keeping it from being free. They don't seem very cuddly but maybe that is because i've never been around one

I think learning falconeering would be sweet though
