geokills said: Some interesting volume coming into TSLA this morning. Make no mistake, this stock is in a pretty major downtrend at the moment, but sometimes bottom fishing can offer a quick reversion trade. I think that's what we're seeing today. I got in at $200 with an initial stop at $197.41. The Nasdaq is also attempting to bounce off of its 200 day EMA. 8 day EMA on TSLA, which is currently at yesterday's open just over $210, will likely be short term resistance. So in essence, I'm looking for a ~5% move here, but will ratchet up stops as the trade works, and may of course get taken out prematurely.
Trade small, or not at all. The equity market is not healthy.
Edit: Trade busted, that was quick. Yeesh.
Seen a lot of green at a glance the last few days. but am still just waiting for a little more clarity via fed meeting and all that nonsense. I think might get reexposed to some safer set and forget markets. Theres something I hate about sitting on cash for too long, I feel like im losing money just due to inflation or something, even if it is the smartest short term strategy

Yeah, I understand the "can't help its"... but when the majors have broken their 50 day and are struggling to hold the 200, it generally pays to be patient. This is also why I love that crypto has decoupled and is once again showing signs of being non-correlated with stocks. I don't really care about my equity account sitting idle when on the crypto side I'm seeing SOL up better than 100% in two weeks time (I just unstaked ~20% of my SOL this morning in fact, with the intention to skim some of these profits off along the way up - but it sure does look to me like SOL's gunning to test the historically relevant range of $65-$75 in the not too distant future).
I just can't be buying equities here after three big days off the most recent S&P bottom and slamming right into the 200 day MA from underneath. Cards are stacked against you.

Smallcap watchlist for Thursday 11-2-23
CLLS - Day 2 gap up. would love 3.50+ PBLA - Day 1 gap up on release of some clinical data. I have 2.70 / 3.00 as big resistance zone.
Very impressive rally on SPY. And AAPL earnings today to wind down earnings. Like Geo said, tough buy here on such a quick bounce. The question I always ask, is this shorts covering? Or a real sustainable move?

Smallcap watchlist for Friday 11-3-23
Happy Friday!
CLLS - First Red Day watch. Looking for some pushes and fails against 3 for possible breakdown today.
FUBO - Not a small cap, but quite the move into resistance. I'll be using 3.35 as first line, A+ would be 3.50+ to use 3.87 line
PSTV - 2.00 resistance.

Very impressive moves here in the market. I suppose folks are thinking the Fed may be wrapping up the hike cycle. I'm still a little suspicious, but this weekly upside candle is amongst the most impressive I've ever seen. Feel like a bit of a dolt for not even participating, but the setup just didn't feel quite right, and I got shaken out of my TSLA trade, which naturally looks to end the week up some 14% (and the options I took a small loss on are up almost 200% ).
I won't be chasing the move, and frankly with more exposure to crypto, there really isn't any sting in it. But man, I definitely missed this move. In hindsight, the S&P having gone nearly straight down for two weeks made for a reasonable probability of a throwback to at least the 200 day MA on Monday's move higher, but I was too distracted to take advantage of it.
Too bad, so sad.

Well my Fortinet dumped 22% in pre-market but by end of day was only down 12.35%. It pretty much was climbing out of the hole all day. Fubo did well, so probably net 0% between these 2 stocks.

Happy Monday!
Geo hit the nail on the head, absolutely impressive rally in the markets.
Watchlist for Monday 11/6/23 LILM - Looking for a morning blowout 1.20-1.30s before some fade OGI - Day 1 gapper, 2.00 is key resistance
Also monitoring ROKU and AFRM. Both pretty vertical with the markets. If SPY starts to digest this large move, I'd watch these to come back in a bit.

I tried out stocks for a while. I made horrible picks and I already didn't have much invested in, so it was hard to turn a profit that feels worth it.
I am wondering, if I took acid or something, then tried looking for patterns in the stock market, a la the plot to the movie "Limitless"...if that would actually work
I need money. There's too much of it and people are willing to spend more for commodities, hence one of the reasons why inflation is not really going back down

I'm going back to the well on AI today. It's had a pretty good pullback from its highs near $50 earlier this year, basing now for the last two months with all the major moving averages clustered around the current price of $26-$28. It pushed above them last week, and has since settled back on top of its 50 and 200 day MA to retest the short-term breakout level.
Because the market has had such a strong run lately, I'm cautious about going in gangbusters, but I nevertheless do like the setup on this stock. So what I'm doing is selling a handful of $27 weekly puts that expire Friday. I got close to $1 for each contract, which would put my effective basis pretty much right on the 50 day moving average if I'm forced to buy the shares on Friday. I also took a smaller starter position with common shares, and if we end up popping above $28, I'll add a little more while also covering up half of the position with calls.

I became aware of an interesting company called Terran Orbital. They make micro and nano satellites with a handful of different configurations. Lockheed Martin has invested in them. Stock is between 70-75 cents right now after selling off big time this year.

Just an update to this thread, I am fully exposed again in my Roth (long term) account. It has become a bit of a hybrid account over the years, sometimes I use it for day to day and stay highly liquid. Now I am in set and forget mode. Am currently exposed to mostly stable companies, with a few risks.
GooG AMZN BLK BA JNJ PCRFY PG RIOT TSLA VA XLE BOTZ XLV GLD SPY
Was rather fortunate to hop back in when I did, even a week and a half can make a difference during a sustained move up. Though I am aware that fortune can change (and am not fully sleeping on the account), there is something peaceful about not scanning the charts every morning as I had been a few times this year. I think the rest of 2023 will look more or less as above. Have a few more trips planned and want to focus on the Holidays and family. We had booked quite a few trips in advance earlier this year, and they are all finally here - turns out we scheduled 3 trips to Mexico within the span of one month... two carnival cruises (which we got a screaming deal on), and our annual cabo trip ...
Cheers all, and happy holidays!

Set it and forget it is a beautiful thing!
Market has been incredible, nearing logical resistance here at the old highs, so it'd be hard to buy in heavy here, but it sure ain't showing signs of quitting and Nov/Dec are typically strong seasonal months. I've slept on the big bounce of the prior four weeks for the most part, outside of some balanced exposure in my retirement accounts. Fortunately my crypto allocation, which is the bigger portion of my intangible asset exposure, has nearly doubled in two months, so I can't complain.
Those Carnival 3-4 days jaunts out of San Pedro/Long Beach seem like they're always on fire sale. Let me know how it goes. I've thought about taking one, but I generally don't like the big cruise style of travel. I can't deny that it's an extremely cost effective way to get away and cop a lot of destinations though! My parents just rolled through Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and are on their way to Bali now. That's like a six or seven week excursion.

Both are on my larger watchlist of about 30 stocks/ETFs- during the last buyin I decided against them just due to already touching against their ATHs.. Could they move higher? Absolutely? Would I like exposure? Absolutely

6-7 weeks Some people would say thats too much time on a boat - I would not be one of them - sign me up!!
We just finished a 5 day that went to Cabo and Ensenada last weekend. Though my wife wasnt excited about the limited gluten free options, my daughter and I who dont have the dietary restriction were eating everything .. We were able to partition the room with magnetic hangers and an opaque curtain so my wife and I could stay up with a few drinks while our daugter slept with some white noise through our phones. It worked remarkably well. Both this cruise and our one coming up this weekend were $100/person - so yeah cost effective travel indeed.
The only thing I would consider if you were looking at grabbing one of those local cruise deals is off-season travel. Our ship was maybe 60% capacity, and likely even less. We barely had to wait in any lines, and didnt have a lot of neighborly noise. That is quite different than the spring break cruises ive taken in the past. Were old, and dont need that nonsense

With niece and nephew i'm thinking young'uns like mine.
That means, a long hold.
I don't know what your budget is but the metal i most favor now is platinum at $950 an ounce. Recently i bought a bit of silver since the gold silver ratio is wide as the atlantic.
Palladium and gold are sublime but both relatively high in their cycle. Platinum and Silver are on the floor.
My guide recommends "should you suddenly run into millions, load up on a same weight of platinum and gold, platinum for growth, gold for stability." in dollars now thats $1:$2
