Nice little meltdown in DIS to new lows, allowing my puts to appreciate better than 40%. These expire in October, and I think this has more to fall.
FSLY and ORIC still hanging out at the top of their range. Long common.
NVDA taking a breather today to test its 8 day EMA. If that doesn't hold, probable test of the 50 day down ~$445. Still holding a single call on this one, not sure if I'm willing to hold to a retest of the 50 day or if I'll put a stop at today's low. Will decide over the weekend before Tuesday's open.
Been watching MTDR just scream higher for a while now. No position. Was stopped out of GOOGL for a nice profit yesterday when it broke VWAP. Looking for an entry on TLRY, hoping it'll retrace to its 200 day MA ~ $2.60. Prolonged bleedout showing some signs of life on the weekly. With some federal health department advocating for a change in the federal scheduling of cannabis, maybe we'll finally see some movement on it, which could in turn give stocks like TLRY a sizable bump.
Not really doing anything today though. Long weekend ahead. Time to relax.

I understand what you're saying. I didn't commit when the NVDA idea first got in my head, and then everybody else did. I played it safe getting AI exposure with AMZN and MFST which have their eggs in a lot of different baskets.
I was considering Qualcom as a long-term value play, but it's undervalued because it's performance hasn't excited investors for a long time. NVDA is the growth stock dilemma. Performance drove the price up for rational reasons, but how long does it last? Is it going to be Coca Cola, Microsoft, Amazon, or is it going to be Cisco. I remember waiting for Cisco to drop to an attractive buy in price and believed it would be a sure thing. It never came back.
I'm leaning towards accepting current valuation and buying NVDA for the medium to long term. Not expecting more of the same, but still think there's more growth, and it's at least as good as any of my other ideas.
I always keep most in large cap index, but individual stocks provide a level of excitement and increased interest in investing, even for us non-traders.

Stopped outta my placeholder in NVDA. Shut down my DIS puts for a nice profit. I still think it's going lower, but there was a huge volume spike 10 minutes ago that pushed to a new intraday high which was my cue to exit the trade, at least for now.
Only positions still standing are FSLY and ORIC, common.

Persistent strength in the dollar continues to pressure the market. I'm away from my desk next week, so I don't have a lot of exposure right now. Still got that FSLY and ORIC common active, picked up a little MSFT*, and bidding on a veritable truckload of $3 Jan calls for TLRY but price needs to proper retest the 20 day MA for them to fill.
Just wanted to identify some pockets of relative strength on my screen, stocks I watch that are behaving pretty well, despite the crappy broad market action. These are the type of stocks you generally want to own, as they are proving their resiliency in the face of negative market pressure.
- MTDR
- GOOGL
- ADBE
- WDAY
- MA & V
- TLRY
- FSLY
*MSFT doesn't quite fit my ideal criteria, since it is technically under its 50 day moving average, but the moving averages are so tightly coiled that a move above the 50 day is likely to be met with some upside continuation.

Is it worth investing in the ARM IPO this Thursday or wait for a lower price?
Also thinking of selling NVDA for FTNT, a cybersecurity company. Thoughts?

I am avoiding IPOs due to broader macroeconomic conditions
I would sell NVDA if you have made a good profit on it, haven't heard of FTNT so I can't comment on that
I've been looking into DIS recently. Income, EPS, and profit margins are way down yoy. Share price is at a 10 year low. "Go woke, go broke"
Still its tempting to buy a company like DIS that's been around forever at such a low price. It will probably still be around long after I am dead. Only question is how much will it recover in the next few years? Would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this

Transalta renewables has a weird vote coming up. I sold out and am putting it in GLD. The CDN dollar looks like dog shit and we have some more serious economic concerns than USD what with housing, stagnated productivity and lower wages. Fuck this country. I should have gone for my green card.

AMD is kind of interesting since it is exposed to the machine learning/AI revolution, but I'm not sure selling NVDA to swap into AMD makes a lot of sense. NVDA is the clear leader, and it generally pays to invest in leadership, rather than second best. On that note, the whole sector got a little hot, and I wouldn't buy NVDA until it's above its 50 day MA again, or if it really pulls back, perhaps on a bounce at its 200 day.
SOFI looks interesting from a technical perspective. I would however keep a hard stop at $7.89, below that level and you don't want to own it. So long as it stays above there, it could be constructive as it appears to be printing a bit of a cup and handle (in the handle formation now). I wouldn't go in gangbusters here, but I could see taking a starter with the stop @ $7.89, and then doubling down on a close above $10.
I was out this last week and wasn't watching the market too closely, but I'm not crazy about what I'm seeing here in review. We look to be rather aimless here, somewhat weak, but not really breaking down in a big way. As such, I would expect some choppy sideways action for another week or two, hopefully setting us up for a better move in October so long as we don't break important support levels before then.

Given what I see as fairly frisky action in the cryptosphere (which you can play on the stock side as follows), I've put on a little GBTC common and picked up a handful of $10 calls on MARA.
In the traditional equity space, it's just not looking very appetizing. Even GOOGL, which has been one of the only majors I watch that's been hanging in there, knifed through its 8 day EMA this morning.
Oh, I did take a small spec on some Jan TLRY $3 calls as well, just in case the Feds really do reschedule cannabis as per the recent Dept of Health recommendations. The stock has retraced the bulk of its move since that news hit the tape a few weeks ago, and is sitting right at all of its key moving averages. Could be an explosive move, or not, since it's based on headline potential, so I'm managing risk on this one through position size (i.e. okay with losing the value on these calls entirely).

Yeah, I'm gonna be upset if I don't get some cash flow going here soon to scoop up some of these potentials like TLRY, and also some of the mining stocks and physical silver.
I'm working on starting a small business so basically a ton of money in and not a lot out, so no room for investment, n top of that, I even sold all my NUMIF shrooms stocks too If that explodes I'm gonna be so mad lol

Garbage market. Stopped outta GBTC for a couple % loss and 2/3 of my remaining ORIC for a 60% gain.
Aside from broad based retirement accounts, my trading account is 90% cash, with the remaining 10% in my last tranche of ORIC common, TLRY and MARA calls.
Edit: ORIC is looking too weak, closing the last tranche for +48%. Will consider buying back if we bounce around $6. I made the mistake of letting some nice profits on FSLY round trip to a small loss before I closed the position. Not going to let that happen with ORIC.

Much the same, have been cash for a little bit now, and really too busy to even think about repositioning. Would’ve lost quite a bit on my normal positions if I was exposed and not protected appropriately.
Nothing looks especially nice right now, or maybe stable is the better word. Just sitting tight

I certainly picked the wrong time to enter AMD and SOFI. Oh well...though the good news is a started a rollover from a 401k index fund to a Rollover IRA. Hence, that chunk of money has been removed from the market before this recent crash and sits in cash. Guess I got lucky.
Now will the Gov shut down next week? What are your thoughts?
Stocks I'm buying next are Target (TGT), 3M (MMM), Walgreens (WBA).
If the following Air Taxi stocks go down I will buy some of them since they are innovative. Archer Aviation (ACHR), JOBY Aviation (JOBY), Lilium N.V. (LILM)

No one can know if the government will shut down, and it really doesn't matter too much with respect to the equity markets. It's unfortunate that our collective politicians are so consistently incompetent, and there are real negative effects from these recurring shutdowns (e.g. agencies responsible for huge purchasing such as the Department of Defense are losing money because they have not been able to effectively negotiate reliable long-term contracts due to the lack of consistent funding, and therefore have to make purchases in a piecemeal fashion that ends up costing significantly more money to bring major projects to fruition), but I digress... congress will ultimately pass a budget, sooner or later. It's a bump in the road. Frankly, the bulk of the news is just noise. If you want to become a good trader, you only need to look at supply/demand (i.e. price/chart) and it will tell you everything you need to know to determine your bias.
Toward that end, keep an eye on DXY. Sustained dollar strength is a headwind for all risk assets.

TKO - Merger between UFC and WWE, they also own Professional Bullriding league. I put a tiny allocation in in. I haven't really been added much to single stocks lately, but WWE had a huge run over the last decade or so and I always kicked myself that I didn't buy more, and hold it longer.
WWE damn near beats out the QQQs.

Rubber band fairly well stretched after last week's breakdown, back into the fear zone, and after a stable open and printing a higher low intraday on the SPY, I'm going to go for a quick reversion trade in hopes to scoop a few bucks off the floor as the pendulum swings. This would only be for the most nimble of traders, as the market is rather fraught with risk here and the last weeks of September are notoriously weak on a historical basis. Keep in mind a head and shoulders pattern on the S&P is still in play, if we continue to break down, SPY $420 seems like it could be possible support, but the head and shoulders "measured move" to the downside would be closer to SPY $400. Conversely, if you zoom way out to a multi-year chart on the S&P, it looks kind of like we've built a really big cup & handle where we are in a bit of a downsloping handle at the moment. That could lend to a pretty awesome move if we break above the handle before the pattern changes.
Anywho, for a short-term oriented day trade, I picked up a boatload of SSO when we crossed back above $54 a few moments ago, as well as some weekly SPY $430 calls just under $4 a pop. Trailing stops starting at {edit: $53.93 $54.28 and $430.49, respectively (at or above breakeven now)}. By and large though, this is more of a time to sit on your hands and build your shopping lists, mark support and resistance and look for patterns to emerge and confirm.
