Pretty decent intraday volume spike. Taking a swing at some Jan SPY $380 calls, stop at $379.49.
KGC moved above VWAP, added a little more. With stops between today's low and $4.19.

Stop on Spy $380 calls moved up to $379.99 after a successful test of VWAP @ ~$380.20. This moves the stop to roughly breakeven.
Adding common shares of MDC for longer term positioning and cash flow. MDC is a small cap home builder sporting a nice dividend in excess of 5% annually. It is also looks like it is coming out of a base, just starting to push through its 200 day moving average. Home builders in general are looking setup to move out from a prolonged downtrend. Not going in gangbusters on this, but I like the idea of parking the money here for the dividend in conjunction with the potential capital appreciation.

XOM looking sporty here. Nice squeeze right along its 50 day, moving up. Been watching RIG squeeze for a while, but I don't want to buy it up 7% this morning. Yesterday would have been the entry. I did take a little starter in XOM via April calls, with the intent to build it up a bit on any weakness.

I'm considering selling puts on AMZN soon
Any high yield long term dividend stock recommendations? Got a big (for me) check hitting soon and wanted to add to a safe position

You could also consider NLY, a real estate investment trust dividend payer, currently yielding ~15%.

I'm so sad I missed RACY. I saw exactly what was going on on 1/4, didn't check the after hours and completely missed a beautiful short. I even had them easy to borrow through one of my brokers, and what makes matters worse, I was planning on entries exactly where it topped out at due to my awareness of the LJAQ run. Now next time they'll do something different because they never repeat 3 times. The third time is always a fake out and a total screw. The one time I tried one of these spac plays long it was the black rifle coffee target acquisition news and it got stuffed so fucking hard I couldn't even get out fast enough to stick to my risk. Very unusual but my luck is absolutely horrible so makes sense.

Low liquidity plays like that are very difficult to make work, in my experience. I'm just not comfortable trading an issue like RACY, because any large trade will just crush the spread, and as a result, traditional technical patterns are not as useful, because the price action becomes increasingly erratic as new capital is drawn to the momentum. This makes stops hard to place, as they can be violated quickly, and if your stop is a market order, your fill price will often be well outside of your expected range.

Yeah I know what you mean, that is kind of an issue with these, very tricky stuff. I watched it the morning after the rip and the spread was bad. I don't know what the spread looks like at the time of the run but I'd imagine it wasn't too bad..I wouldn't use more than maybe 100 shares sized in at round numbers because the risk is hard to keep under control. But I can't help but feel like short on these it's like hitting the broadside of a barn.. A pre-target no rumor spac has no business trading above 10 period, If I remember correctly even ipod and ipof were only 12 for any extended times in the heat of spac mania. I just think smack one of these above 25 I can't imagine not getting paid. But then I'm always amazed at how perfect the market is at screwing you in bizarre ways. And my policy is not to trade stuff that I don't have an understanding of why it's happening because it fucks me every time. I honestly don't know why these runs happen and only can theorize its just some whale bucking off short positions at 12 from previous days then dumping into elevated prices. I get why they happen at target announcement or rumor.. That's just like an IPO play. I don't get these random ass runs like those two tho. I couldn't find even the hint of a rumor anywhere. And previous spac team success means absolutely fuck all in this market.

Although TSLA does sometimes become afflicted by the animal spirits of the market, I think imminent upside is capped by the wall of regretful buyers/holders that will sell into strength in hopes of getting some of their money back. It's been a brutal fall from grace for TSLA, and that is the type of dynamic that results in baked in and persistent resistance. I would instead expect rangebound trading between $100-$130 at least until earnings on January 25th. The downsloped 20 day MA is likely to serve as resistance until then as well, so I would expect the range to narrow to $100-$120 over the course of the next two weeks. This is a viable candidate for selling put and call spreads outside of the range, in an "iron condor" fashion.
In other news, I took a little SSO today. The bounce off of the 8 day EMA and 20 day MA I think could give us a little more room to the upside. Not expecting a home run on this trade, just something to watch and hopefully generate a few bucks. A trailing stop will be employed on account of the expected short duration here.
KGC is continuing to come out of its squeeze. A bit of a grind higher, but I'm OK with that. Slow and steady stocks are much easier to manage, both technically and emotionally. If you are a buyer, I would wait for a tag of the 8 day EMA at a minimum.
Confessions of a street addict: I held my modest position in AEHR that was built up from selling puts before its break of its 50 day MA. Earnings bailed me out, and I sold at a daily gain of better than 40%, which in aggregate gave me around a 20% overall gain, although the trade would have been a bit of a white knuckler had the position size been larger. I thought about selling calls against the earnings pop, which in hindsight would have probably done a little better. Indeed, holding for the last two days would have been great, but I just didn't expect it to keep moving like this and was grateful that I had "made my money back" after having dipped in the red. This is precisely the dynamic I'm talking about with regard to TSLA above. When you have losses on your books, you're likely to be much quicker to sell into strength. I also sold SGML the same day as AEHR, on its pop off the 200 day MA tag (when the 8 day EMA looked like it might hold it down, and indeed it has been so far) for a small loss.

We all need a lil SSO in our life. Hey all what do you think about EVEN.. The idea of an equal weight S&P 2x lever really appeals to me.

I didn't look at all into what EVEN even is... just pulling up the chart gave me nightmares. So many gaps and so little liquidity. I wouldn't touch it for those reasons alone.

I am looking for Tesla to break below the market cap of Toyota ($TM) before I scale into a long term position. That would be around $86/share for Tesla to be ~222B market cap.

Geez, just thinking about how many Toyotas I see in a day and the fact that I have never seen a Tesla that I know of makes me realize that Tesla truly is a meme stock.
