Initiated a small starter position in TLRY just above $4. 200 day overhead, but I will look to trade around this one by selling calls against common and shorting puts as conditions indicate. Suspect there's still a few months of sideways grind on these cannabis stocks, but they do appear to be basing and teasing a breakout.

Just sold some Dec $35 calls against the SGML common for $1.50. I had the common put to me a few weeks ago (which is already up over 20% from my adjusted basis). SHOP calls are continuing to kick butt. That should do it for me today.

I will have to check that out, thanks! I'm specifically looking to start a loose collab team based on the success of some of the young steady trade guys that killed it during the hot market, specifically the short focused guys..I personally feel that strategies for shorting low floats and manipulations require a lot more homework and a lot less on the spot analysis and quick reaction than long. I have seen the results of a few guys loosely working together to screen and develop trade plans for shorts and that just doesn't make as much sense for long patterns. The other thing is a team can share information about stuff like share availability and fees across different brokerages and all the other weird stuff that short sellers have to worry about.

I always thought CCs were a nice tool to have when you're in a profitable share position and on the fence as to whether to take some profit or hedge. Do you ever mess around with wheels? I'm thinking 23 might be the year for wheels, thinking volatility might drain out somewhat but momentum for a bull market might just not be there.

I had to look up what was meant by "wheels", and yes, I do. It's pretty much exactly what I refer to when I say I'm "trading around a core position." It's a stock I want to maintain exposure to, so I sell puts to accumulate and build up the position, and subsequently sell calls against the position to generate yield or have the shares called away, to then turn around and sell more puts to rebuild exposure.
I don't do this as often in a strong trending market, because I'd rather be more aggressive (less yield based), in order to take advantage of the prevailing trend. But when things are choppy, I really like shorting puts to accumulate more conservatively. Had an ask out for TLRY Dec $4 puts @ $0.25 this morning but it never hit. Then when the stock moved above yesterday's high, I just bought some common outright because I like the longer term pattern its been building. Not a huge position, but something to keep me involved. On a continued run, I'll be selling some $5 calls against it. Stop @ $3.59.

Tilray definitely moved today and we know how hot those stocks can get anytime there's buzz. As for rtx I still think there's more head room and there's definitely more money parked in there now. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits bang on 110 before they test the lower end. Of course this market there's always a ton of factors so it's a tough call it really is. That's why I've stopped playing around with energy for now so much volatility major curveballs left and right. I mean feds are trying to steer in a soft landing but they're gonna have to put the squeeze on one way or another.

Thanks for the reminder! That big bump in the beginning of the chart you posted was one of my best trades of all time. I started to get involved somewhere around $10-$15 and was selling all the way up, kissing the top of the squeeze with a 900% gain (played primarily via options).
Been sitting out the market for a stretch now, but it's starting to look interesting again, and I've kept an eye on TLRY and CGC over the past couple of years as they've been bottoming out. I'm no soothsayer, I get it wrong often enough, and I don't know if TLRY and/or CGC are going to move higher with any measure of certainty (and I definitely don't think we'll see a repeat of that TLRY move to $150), but it does appear they have carved out a decent and prolonged base, and the price/volume metrics in conjunction with the moving averages have piqued my interest once again. I'm only involved with a relatively small common stock position at the moment, and would expect some resistance coming up here at its 200 day. Nevertheless, I want to have a little skin back in the game.

On more general notes, I would be looking for a bit of a grind to pullback coming in the next few weeks. The VIX has fallen below 20, which is pretty dang low. The % of stocks above their 200 day moving average is back to ~50%, where it hasn't been since over a year ago. These conditions indicate the improvement in the market overall, however because prices are apt to ebb and flow, it seems likely that, unless the Fed really does become more vocal about pulling back on hikes, we'll probably have to do some backfilling here.
Looking at the SPY, we can see the series of lower lows and lower highs is still intact. I'm looking for some pressure here around its 200 day, with my general expectation for a pullback to its 50 day moving average (~8% pullback), where it would ideally bounce to make a higher high above its 200 day, which would markedly change the mood in a more sustainable way.
Keeping an eye on ARKK as a bit of a litmus test for risk appetite as well. If that fund starts to breakout, it would warrant more aggressive positioning.
Solar continues to look strong after a little bit of consolidation. ENPH and FSLR leading the group, TAN is the ETF you can watch for general sentiment.
TNK is also looking pretty solid, been strong all year, looks like it's working on a "touch and go" off its 50 day after a month and a half of sideways action. No position on any of the aforementioned, but they may offer opportunities, so I will be keeping an eye on them.
Going to have to tighten up stops on my SHOP calls Monday. It's pushed toward the top of its range to the upside, and I would expect it to begin to churn sideways a bit. Will cut half my exposure on any strength early in the week, or allow myself to get stopped out otherwise, and look to sell some puts to build a common position, as this one looks like it's making the turn for a longer-term, multi-month move higher.
Overall, tempered expectations, especially short-term, but looking for a pullback bounce in SPY for a higher low and an opportunity to continue building up some longer term positions for the eventual reduction in Fed rate hike aggression. Patience will be key, but optimism is starting to creep back in.

Energy just seems shitty all around. You'd thing things like solar or other renewables would be capitalizing or atleast insolated from this petroleum/russia situation that's been fucking alot of stuff up. These stocks are over bought but there just not grow significant earnings. Everyone was talking about green new deal and all this but it's just not happening

Moved my stop on the Jan $40 SHOP calls up to the first 15 minute low of the day ($42.40), and just got stopped out for a 30% gain. TLRY up another 8% this morning, put an ask out there to short some weekly $5 calls @ $0.50. Need to see a little more juice in the trade for that to hit. The senate is trying to push forward a bill on federal marijuana legalization, which is helping buoy the cannabis sector stocks. CGC also a beneficiary, but TLRY seems to moving better.
Not seeing any reason to be too aggressive right here right now. Market going to thin out on volume the closer we get to the holidays. Might be able to pick a few trades here and there, but I'll likely only do so via selling premium (shorting puts or covered calls).
