AMZN down 44.43% YTD. I only have my lousy 2% company match in it or that would be more depressing. When the market showed sure signs of tanking, I moved half of my 401K into a large cap value fund that has only lost 7% YTD, which is bearable, no pun intended.

I have a Roth 401k from a previous job that I haven't rolled over. I put all in S&P500 index fund and have not managed it in years. It has gotten hammered obviously. That's what I get for only actively managing my current retirement fund. Lesson learned. Gonna let it sit as I am no where near retiring

If I enroll in a a program with work for retirement do I get to control where that money goes?
Say I wanted it exclusively in certain companies or if I wanted some in crypto, am I able to diversify my investments the way I want?

Typically they work with a retirement company that offers a variety of plans, in my experience they are ETFs and Funds. They are more limited but probably safer.
IMO now is the time to be hammering away at your 401k, and the longer prices stay suppressed the longer your opportunity to buy low. Doing so will allow that thing to inflate really well 20 years down the road. Maybe someone who is better at this stuff will correct me, but that’s my plan - max that thing out!

Your company's plan will have options for investment but they will be limited. The only sure thing is to contribute enough for the company match. Beyond that you may want to gain complete control by putting additional amounts in an IRA. However, the yearly maximum contribution is lower for IRAs than 401ks. There is also a convenience factor with 401k's because the percentage you choose is automatically invested out of each paycheck.

So do you guys see a quick rebound soon,a slow recovery, trading sideways for an extended period of time, or is the market still mid-tank with significant further losses yet to be seen?

Nothing is impossible, but a quick rebound in this environment would be about as close to impossible as I can imagine . I would expect a protracted period of volatile sideways grind, with a slight bias toward further downside on account of the Fed not yet taking their foot of the gas with regard to rate hikes, in addition to the negative complications derived from the Russian/Ukraine war including the potential for further escalation and broadening of the conflict. I do believe this is the time to start looking for longer term opportunities, and I have started to work toward scaling into additional exposure as evidenced from my recent posts. However it's very likely to be very bumpy for a while still, and I am therefore not positioning myself for an imminent and sustained move higher.

Can anyone calm my fear, I fear putting allmy retirement savings into an ETF in the next 5-10 years and then the market not recovering and I lost all my money and I have no savings
In r slash personal finance canada they act like ETF is a sure thing and everybody should have one
But I'm sure the people retiring today kinda wish they had thier money in something else, like real estate maybe

When do you expect to retire? On long term time horizons (10+ years), the market has almost always supported positive returns. Now of course, that isn't a guarantee that it will continue to do so, but if you are relatively young, I believe you risk falling behind more by not allocating at least half of your idle capital toward higher returning investments.
AEHR off to the races, couldn't even get down to its 50 day moving average on this latest pullback. Definitely signs of longer term institutional buying on this issue, and I wish I had been a little more aggressive on the pullback, but that's ok, patience is generally rewarded in this type of market, and aggressive behavior is not. The bollinger bands are still very wide on this stock, and so although today's push is impressive, I wouldn't really expect it to breakout above its recent highs above $23 right away, rather to trade sideways for a while longer, especially if the aggregate market isn't moving higher.

Took a small piece of SQ into the close. Stock is mega beaten down, price held near the top of Friday's earnings pop, which is coincidentally just above the 50 day moving average, and it looks like it's going to come out of a squeeze. If it moves above today's high of $64.75, I will be adding and would expect a quick move to $75-$80. Stop at Friday's high volume low of $57.65.

Stopped out of HOOD at the open. That was a bad trade, I was chasing, and even saw the 200 day overhead and still went for it. Thankfully I kept the position small and the stop tight. Too bad, so sad.
SGML doing today what AEHR did yesterday, with AEHR also moving up. SQ taking a quick tag of its 8 day EMA and moving back to the top of the range as well.
MARA in the dumps on account of the latest crypto market fiasco, and reporting earnings after the bell. I have a position here that I trade around, but I wouldn't be adding right in front of earnings.

My silver stocks are up $26, I'm tempted to cash out and rebuy when it drops, a little day trading, but probably wont, my original plan was to hold until may 2023
