I like USD still and short term trades long on QQQ. I just think buy and hold is going to be so disappointing for years as we have so much to work off from the past decade.
I think the British economy is a sign of things to come. It seems impossible to me we get through this without a financial crisis or two outside the US.
The Shiller CAPE is terrible for market timing but I think in this situation it does show how the next peak is so far away https://www.multpl.com/shiller-pe
We are still in the denial phase that the everything bubble and giant bond bubble have burst.

I'm starting to think about, slowly, moving some money back into equities here. The pervasively negative sentiment is reaching a pretty steep pitch, quarterly returns are down better than 10% on average more or less across the board. The rubber band seems a bit far stretched, is all I'm saying. If you're sitting on a pile of cash, this is probably a good spot to start putting out some feelers.

MP is interesting. Its PE ratio is very high at ~21 compared to its industry average of ~5. However, its Price to Earnings Growth (PEG) ratio is only 0.64, with 1 generally being accepted as "fair value" and upwards of 2 being considered too hot to handle, and thus, it's trailing growth rate is supporting the stock's high PE. It has done pretty well with upside surprises over the past year and a half, however the estimate ranges are very wide and looking out toward 2023, growth is anticipated to decelerate, which, in conjunction with aggregate market pressure, explains why its PEG is depressed. Given that it's down over 40% year to date, it's probably an OK issue to expose yourself to, as a lot of its potential growth deceleration is being factored in, however it's not really in the sweet spot of where I'd want to focus my metals/mining exposure.
Frankly, if I wanted to hold a miner, I would prefer to find one that focuses on lithium, especially if they have untapped potential capacity, as lithium is one of the elements with the largest supply-demand gap, exacerbated by green-policy mandates being implemented by governments worldwide. At my first glance across the cohort, LTHM, PLL, ALB, SGML, appear to be the dominant players well positioned to capitalize on continued lithium demand pressure. Minimally regulated high fliers with presently low capacity but potential future development (basically companies that you could consider as lotto tickets in the space) could include Australian based SYAXF & CXOXF. And if you don't want to pick and choose, there is also LIT, a Lithium focused ETF.
This is an area I intend to build some exposure to, however the above names are only my first look under the hood. Worth looking into in greater detail, I believe.

I wonder what's up with the unscheduled Fed meeting tomorrow.
I'm hearing rumors of some major bank or banks that are near collapse.
There's some shit going on in the UK. Something about Da Money being sad or some thing.

Not really, this is how markets always behave during periods of volatility. As I noted over the weekend...

Anytime sentiment reaches an extreme, a counter-trend move becomes increasingly likely. Hard to know exactly when, but the fact that the quarter closed so negatively, down double digits and down big on its last day, that's about as extreme as it gets. I wouldn't go piling in now, but if you are in, you can ladder your stops on any trading positions at today's, yesterday's and Friday's low as the absolute hardline exit.

Lithium mining is very interesting Geo. I was trying to get some exposure to the space not too long ago, and believe I settled on Panasonic who creates batteries for TSLA. My next contribution (2 months from now) will certainly be in the lithium mining space.

Speaking of, I've been waiting for SGML to come back toward its 20 day moving average, but it just keeps expanding. There is some real institutional buying of this name, and although it has had a hell of a run, I would expect it to keep going. It's really not advisable to chase anything in this market, so keep SGML on your shopping list and hope it comes in to give you a better entry.
AEHR also appears to be under institutional accumulation, with several high volume spikes on big up days and a definitive trend higher out of a short-term base formed over the past two months. Would like to get this closer to its 20 day moving average as well, but fully expect that it is on its way to test last year's highs at $27.
The fact that these two have been "hard to buy" in the kind of tape we've been seeing, indicates that they are among a very few special issues that can attract buyers even as the entire market has, by and large, been in liquidation mode.

Could be set for some follow through this week, as the Fed is in a quiet period and can't make any public policy statements until November. That last Friday saw a big up move on high volume further corroborates a potential for continuation, although unless the Fed surprises with a dovish pivot in November, this will probably end up being a "bear market rally" and we will continue to remain volatile and choppy for some time longer. Nevertheless, it is important to keep an open mind. AEHR is still running away from me, SGML allowed for a marginally acceptable entry this morning when tagging its 8 day EMA, but with its 20 day still over 10% below the current price, I haven't taken a bite.
MARA is tightening up and curling higher. Kind of hard to buy up over 7% on the day after Friday's monster double-digit % move, but it does bear watching, and if it closes strongly above its 50 day moving average, the probability begins to stack for a stab at its 200 day up above $16 (a ~30% move higher from the current price). It is one of the more resilient publicly traded bitcoin mining companies, and could be positioned to take share on favorable terms during a prolonged market rout, as the more leveraged miners go belly up and may be forced to liquidate.

Yeah definitely a mix bag but I think the market over all still remains relatively healthy with alot of your large blue chips relatively safely settled despite some recent shake ups in several sectors. Recently I've been looking at good old SLB.

Should I try to stop stick picking and just buy 1 share if a $30 ETF every couple weeks when I can afford it
And the government is going to give me 10k but I can't touch it for 30 years, should I also stick that into an ETF?
I'm thinking put 1k into silver (pslv) cause I think in 30 years it could be higher and put 9k into VGRO

We’ll look at that, another day, another double digit %-move. I’ve had a small common stock position on this, and took the opportunity to sell some weekly $13.5 calls against the common for $1 in premium. They expire Friday, and if I’m called away, I’ll look for opportunities to sell puts for additional premium and to rebuild the position.
