Ok, what is Musk doing with Twitter ? When this saga started I figured he would go through with the sale but then do all kinds of weird stuff with the platform. Seems like he's just trying to eject as if he didn't know about its challenges and share price issues. I don't buy the spam account argument for a second, this is something his lawyers concocted because he suddenly wants out..

Also after the jobs numbers eyeing SSO at successful support test low 40s for S&P exposure.. I mean it's levered but it survived 08 and covid so I figure capitulation is unlikely unless we really have a catastrophe. Everything else levered I was looking at 6 months ago is pretty well trashed.

Twitter says the agreement for him to buy at said price is binding.

I'm sure it will be a protracted court battle..

I just wonder about the fate of TSLA after all this. They say it stands to gain share price if the Twitter deal is terminated but I think this whole thing is such a mess that it'll be a sign that Musk has lost his golden touch aura that has a car company trading at a P/E ratio of 100 in a major sell off no less. It feels like it could really put retail money in the market back to pre pandemic levels if TSLA bleeds out slow.
Maybe that's not a bad thing though. Idk.

Thinking about shorting KO, it has not dipped with the rest of the market (yet) and Cramer just told everyone to buy so inversing him should be the closest thing you can get to free money

I think generally they use it like a haven in high volatility and inflationary environments. It really does its own thing from what little I've observed of it. I've wanted to trade it but takes a lot of size to get anywhere..

If there is even a chance that the assertation of Twitter spam accounts being in excess of 5% is true, the sale agreement is dead in the water for misrepresentation and will likely reach a private settlement with no ownership change.  The board publicly indicated that spam accounts were less than 5%, so unless they have iron clad proof of that, they will not try to force the sale, because if they're not 100% confident in that claim (with the ability to prove it), they will be liable for real public misrepresentation on one hand (which would still kill the deal) and further, the stock would immediately experience a loss of investor confidence because of the unreliable board as well as the fact that a higher proportion of spam accounts makes the platform less viable.  In other words, even if the board is relatively confident that their claim is true, it is unlikely they are willing to lay all their cards on the table for everyone to see, because if they get caught on the wrong side of a court decision, the results would be disastrous and the lawsuits would be plenty.

Nancy Pelosi's husband bought, like, $5million of NVDA back on June 17. There's a bill going around that's a huge handout to the tech industry.

I'm picking some up tomorrow, prolly.

Apparently a 50 billion dollar bill isn't important enough to give it a name. Everything just refers to it as "the bill".

I just read an article predicting that the semiconductor industry is heading for a down cycle and I saw there were some institutional downgrades for some of the smaller chip stocks this week. The industry does run on thin margins and it has historically had a
a predictable cycle. But I'm not sure I buy it this time around though.. Retail popularity of stocks like NVDA and AMD might level things off and let's face it, by 2030 every device will be 'smart.'

AMD has been rallying into downtrend and broke through. Looking for a pullback and support and looks like good entry if it holds above 83 or so

Nvda looks good too

Simultaneously dxy is looking weak on the 4 hour chart and weekly chart is showing bearish divergence and downwick pressure followed by a bearish engulfing candle.

Still has chop to break through, could rally and get rejected while dxy dips and finds support.

But definitely potential here for the markets

MP is a good stock too

Down 50% from high and showing support in the buy zone

Similar importance as tech

They mine rare Earth and are working to process it in the US and be 100% American and reduce dependence on China

I am playing this short squeeze $SRG - They are selling all their real estate assets and dissolving. The stock is 34% short via yahoo finance and I don't think the short sellers factored liquidation into the picture. This is going to be good.

Is anyone here good at options??

RH only lets me buy one contract at a time

where is the profit made on the option??

and i understand how you make money
but it doesn't make sense

shouldn't your call be lower than the stock and a promise to buy at that price

and your put gas to be higher than the stock to sell it later at that high price

it seems like options are completely backwards
like it'd make more sense to me if the put was lower than the price and the call was higher
it's like you're shorting everything like the show the price is right

Even with a well seasoned understanding of options, they should only be traded lightly and managed strictly.  Investopedia is a solid resource for almost everything trade related, and here is their article on: Options Basics.

The Options Institute used to have a lot of good introductory tutorials/videos as well, although it looks like you need to provide an email address that they can market to in order to access it these days so I'm not sure if it's as good of a resource as it was in the past.

Public service announcement: ETrade does in fact suck at locating shares to short on small caps. They don't really have an official short locate and it shows. I had a six ticker watch list completely evaporate due to hard to borrow statuses and these were not meme stocks by any means.

Also, IB doesn't want your business if you make less than 40k a year.

I'm going to try Schwab. I have a TDA account but I wanted to keep it cash in the vain hope that large caps someday find enough sanity to trade long options again. My guess is that won't happen until Putin dies which will be never because nosferatu.

😒
