That's the one. Very nice setup, had an explosive move higher late last year and into the current year, and been trading sideways for months since, allowing the longer term 200 day moving average to catch up to price. This pattern typically portends a continuation move higher. Alert @ $42.50.

Took PENN off for +52%. Added aggressively to AAPL via weekly $150's.
BH .. be mindful that GVA is still in the squeeze. The squeeze can also break to the downside. Thus, you would want to buy either closer to ~$37 or on a break above $42.50. Right now, it's still in no man's land. If you do want to begin accumulating, that's fine, but I would be buying small and make sure you keep a hard stop at the 200 day moving average. Safer to accumulate bits at the lower end of the range and then add on a breakout.

Out of my small re-entry position on ABNB for a negligible loss. Just too weak for me right here.

I'll keep an eye on it for now, Geo. Maybe figure out how to set up alerts. Thanks for the tip.
Figured out the sell stops last night and set them for the three stocks I had. Then this morning I decided to bail on PENN anyway and it wouldn't let me. Took me a minute to figure out that I had to cancel my stop first.
REGN and VIR still seem to have some wind in their sails.

ABNB ended up bouncing back and putting in a decent showing, but I'm not buying it back here. Probably has several days of work to do around the battleground that is its 200 day moving average, before seeing a sustainable move higher. For anyone holding this one, I would keep a firm stop at $151.
Nothing to cry about however... sold half of the AAPL weeklies I picked up this morning for +100%. Added to longer term October expiries right after I built up the aggressive weekly position, going to sit on that for an anticipated multiday move higher. On significant further strength today, I will close out the remainder of the weekly calls, alternatively will keep a stop below today's low and let them ride (they expire next week, not this week, so I can be a little more flexible regarding overnight risk).

Weekly calls now up better than 120%.

My spy stock is doing alright haha. It's going to be a long term thing.
Also baby Hitler I got some of that VIR also. I am kind of braking even on it. Still experimenting with where to put the stops and finding entry and exit points. For the VIR it dipped a little bit towards the end of the day and triggered one of my stops so I am thinking I should have set it lower. Practice makes perfect though.
Still taking it slow to get used to this.
I have been making a journal with these trades, analyzing what went right and what went wrong.
It's kind of funny I got on this site like over a decade ago as a teenager because I was interested in entheogens and now I am using it to share my trading experiences lol
What a trip

VIR was a bonafide "gap and crap" - gapped higher at the open and closed at the lows of the day. It still printed a higher daily high and a higher daily low, but generally speaking, sellers were dominant and I think having your stop hit on that wasn't the worst thing that could have happened.

Took more money out today than I out in. Bailed on REGN and PENN. Kept VIR and bought 3 shares of HVT because of some Benzinga article I saw, I think.
Altogether, I only got about 200 bucks in the market right now. Somehow, I'm still up almost half a percent for the day.
Been checking out the ResearchTeamTM Rating Changes on the Ideas page. Was looking at the upgrades and performance since upgrade and they were looking pretty good. Multiple percent up since upgraded within the last 10 days or so. Then I got to checking out the downgrades and they were doing just about as well and I just don't know what to make of that.

Generally speaking, the best "edge" you'll obtain in trading, is learning to read and react to price (i.e. the chart). Price relates the sum total of all available knowledge as it pertains to the underlying asset, it is in essence "the wisdom of the crowd", the most current metric you can base your analysis on, and tells you everything you need to know regarding the constant tug-o-war between supply and demand; ultimately laying out patterns that often (although not always) lead to an anticipated outcome. It is a combination of understanding these high probability patterns, in conjunction with risk management (i.e. proper entry, position size and the disciplined use of stops), that has kept me in the trading game for nearly two decades now.
In other words, don't put too much stock in the "research notes" you'll see here or there. And definitely don't pay up for some sort of magic "signal" software that will tell you exactly when to buy or sell. Keep in mind that stock analysts that publish upgrades or downgrades are almost always late to the party. There are some OK fundamental analysts out there to be sure, but sifting through the noise to find them isn't worth the time.
TLDR: Learn to read a chart.
PS. The SPY was up +0.44% today, so that was the number you needed to beat to indicate your time and efforts are paying off. If you were up "almost half a percent for the day", you essentially performed right along side the market. Naturally, you don't need to beat the SPY every day, but over time, you should be outperforming that average, otherwise just park your money in the SPY, sit back, relax, and enjoy one of the better performing asset classes available.
PPS. My retirement account finished up 21.6% today, the company account I manage was up 8.2%.

Right on. Learning how to read charts is on my to-do list. Also, the vast majority of my investment portfolio is my 401k which is a broad spectrum of ETFs and target retirement funds. This little fraction that I'm playing with is mostly just for learning, at least for now.
The S&P is up 1.96% since I started. I'm up 2.29%, so I'm doing a little better so far, and I haven't even figured out what I'm doing, yet.
Are the Ameritrade tutorials a good place to learn chart reading?

Sold out of most my alternative holdings to concentrate on a big 4-5. Still holding AMZN, AAPL, BA, and TSLA. Will be consolidating mostly into the top 4, with a sell target around $3700 with AMZN, and TBD with everything else.
GVA - is on the radar!

Never tried the TDA tutorials, but they're free so you might as well soak 'em up if you have the time. Most of what I've learned has been through being a member of StockMarketMentor.com for the last 15 years or so. More or less daily strategy sessions that get you familiar with looking at charts and trading effectively. The forum can be a good resource to spot actionable trades in real time, although there is also quite a bit of not so helpful noise in there that you'll have to learn to cut through. Nevertheless, for active traders it's a great resource. I think you can sign up for a free month, or like a really cheap first month. Then buy the Technical Analysis for Non-Technicians. It's like $100 and will get you started on the basics of chart analysis.

Added to TSLA, added back just a little bit of AAPL at a ~30% discount to what I sold for massive profits yesterday (with a stop below the opening rotation low of $151.49 to contain losses from further potential downside), also even added a small piece of ABNB back into the mix on its move above its 200 day EMA. Not expecting too much from this one, stop at low of day. SHOP stop ratcheted up to opening rotation low of $1532.
