So just an update as I only started learning, trading, and investing about 6 months ago or so.
In the last 6 months after lots of trading, countless hours and hours of learning, etc etc, (lots of hours and time spent learning, charting etc) lots.
I am up $55 which is about 3.5%
May need to start holding money long-term in some etf's or something to capture the market as I try to improve
Crypto has been a much easier time. This last month alone I'm up around 40% or more
Not sure if stock market has been tougher on corrections as I sat out most of the correction on crypto or what the deal
Happy I am at least in the positive even though my stock trading has not been extremely fruitful
Even if lately I seem to be doing much better on trades

I'm liking the setup on SHOP here. Pretty tight sideways consolidation for a couple of months and the 50 day is now squarely under price, coiled with both the 20 day and 8 day EMA. If this thing takes another stab at $1600, I have a feeling it's going to have some serious legs. Put an initial position on today with a single October $1550 call. Would add on a move above $1600. Stop below $1437.
ABNB took it on the chin today and I have an order in to pick some back up on a tag of its 20 day moving average, which almost filled near the close but just barely missed. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
PENN still performing admirably. A bit extended and I am looking to take some of this position off for a handy profit between $85-$90.

Just picked up a couple shares of VIR just now. They've got some hip new C19 antibody all the cool kids are talking about.

PENN - Stop raised to low of day just under $80.50. This has had a hell of a run off $65 and so long as it keeps printing higher daily lows, I'll let the position work, but given the magnitude of the move and the traditional volatility of this name (and the fact that I am leveraged with calls), I want to guarantee a profit on this position despite the contracts not expiring until January. If stopped out, I would definitely look to reload (as I have now done with ABNB after booking 60% gains earlier in the week).
AAPL - Taking another little trading position with weekly options (expiring next week), stop just below VWAP @ $147.71. Also have a longer dated call position on AAPL with a stop below the 8/19 intraday low that happens to correspond rather neatly with the 50 day moving average (~$144.49).
SHOP - Ratcheting up stop to a penny below this morning's low print @ $1511.13. This bounced right on its 8 day EMA/20day/50day. While we might see a little fakeout/shakeout, these options are too expensive to mess around with, so on a break of these coiled moving averages, I am most definitely out.

I sold one of my shares of REGN today. It's done well over the last few days, but $1300 is a bit much to put on one pony.

To be clear, I haven't actually sold anything today, and instead have added to positions in ABNB and AAPL. I did however tighten up my stops, such that if we do reverse, I will be taken out of positions more quickly. The market liked Powell's speech about starting to pull back on bond purchases later this year, but not touching interest rates for the foreseeable future as he considers full employment more important than "transient" inflationary pressures ( ... in my view, there is some transience in inflationary pressure due to supply bottlenecks, but come on, once prices go up, they generally don't go back down by the same count; a lot of this inflation is going to stick around imo). Nevertheless, I think we're setting up for a continued grind higher. Always remember, a market requires some skepticism to sustain an uptrend. If everyone believes the future is golden, there won't be much capital left to convert and that is when the market is generally at the highest risk of a more significant correction.
Watch COIN settling in here at its 50 day moving average. I would like to see it bounce around between its 50 day SMA @ $243.50 and its 200 day EMA at $280 for another week or two, to really firm up a support zone. If that happens, a subsequent move up and above its 200 day EMA @ ~$280 could be rather explosive. Coinbase's board of directors recently approved the purchase of $500 million in crypto assets, making COIN increasingly correlated to the movement of the crypto sector in general. This also gives them an advantage as a market maker, as they have extensive information on where money is going through their exchange. Market makers are required to provide an orderly exchange to benefit traders, and COIN's trading desk will have a huge edge because they can tag along with the order flow that they have first read/privileged access to. Note, I'm not buying this here, but I will be watching it for an opportunity.
MARA, a pureplay crypto mining operator, continues to perform very well.
TSLA, nice tight range here, sitting on its 8 day EMA and 20 day SMA. I have some exposure to common stock in an account I manage for my mother, but I'm starting to think I need to add this back to my own account soon. Not really wanting to do that mid-day on a Friday however, so I'll be watching next week for an appropriate entry.

Nah I don't like it I feel like this is the upper end on the short term od rather net profit than sit on some these over the weekend. Hit it right on the nose. No way next week is green. But then again I've been wrong before. I think the American consumer is to good at buying shit to be fucked around with that much and prices will eventually balance to where they should be. There's a serious bulk of people that would eat fucking dirt rather than pay those prices. Shit goes both ways people need products just as much as these companies need people to buy thier products especially with feds keeping shit in check. American consumerism is the major driver of the world economy pricing these people out would mean a total collapse. I mean think about the level greed your dealing with here.

10% swings in my trading account week to week just sitting and watching. Fun times when you’re too busy to worry about the daily moves. I like Geo’s assessment for a potential grind higher given the market response, considering I’ve made up all the ground lost and am still sitting on the same bets I made 2 weeks ago before that recent tremor, I am happy to wait and see.

Alright I read the beginning part of this thread and I am going to follow the advice. I am going to trade with a decent amount about 20 grand but what I want to do is gradually put $100000 into etfs putting stops in gradually to protect gains. Main reason I want to do that is I am trying to figure out what to do with my money to stop the loss from inflation.
Also I want to kind of use that spy eTF as a reservoir for trading other stocks.
I have a small sum in MFA. I have stops in place to protect the gains it has acquired.
I also went with a risker stock the VIR. Based on its financials it looks like it was doing kind of shitty but recently it looks like it's actually turning a profit now. But with this one I also have the stops in place.
I am learning and want to get in the game now and do it the right way

Welcome gillagin! Using ETF's for generally diversified exposure with some sector weighting is not a bad idea. And using the SPY in particular, as a cash substitute when you don't have other trades to concentrate your capital on, is a nifty move to make.
In other news... Get a load of that squeeze on GVA, all major averages getting tightly coiled together. This thing looks like it's getting ready to blow.
