TSLA, seeing some volume off intraday lows, chewing through VWAP, daily still in consolidation, expected supply/alerts set > $625.50.  Added a little bit at $617.

Stops set:
  AMZN < $3334.98
  AAPL < $126.98
  TSLA < $611.59
  SPWR < $23.20 (partial @ $24.39)

Hey Geo is CLF still an active trade for you?

I have switched my account to margin, to avoid good faith violations. I only buy/sell, rarely call/put. My objective is to never actually borrow money, but still I am trading in and out often enough to trigger GFVs. Hopefully this is the correct move for someone actively trading in a Roth.

CLF is not an active trade for me.  In fact, I never actually took the trade as, although I had planned to buy it on a move above last Tuesday's high, I wasn't at my desk early enough Wednesday morning, so by the time I saw it, it was up rather bigly, and I opted to chalk it up to "another one that got away".

If your trade on CLF is intended to be short term in nature (i.e. to capitalize on the volatility squeeze/expansion off the 50 day), you probably don't want to stay in it.  Through a short term lens, I would set a hard stop at $21.95 right now (one penny below the day's lows).  If on the other hand, you want to stay involved with CLF under a longer term inflation thesis, I don't see anything wrong with that; however when you look at the multi-month channel that has developed on the daily chart, CLF tagged the top of the channel Thurs/Fri, and could easily fall to retest its 50 day moving average with nothing being "wrong" with the prevailing trend.  You need to decide if you're comfortable holding through that type of ~13% pullback for a longer term position.  If you're not, I'd set that stop at $21.95.

Margin accounts are very useful, I can't imagine actively trading without one (and I don't utilize leveraged/margin debt either).

Very nice close on AMZN and AAPL.  Ended up adding to AAPL three times today, the last tranche just under $130 before the final push into the close.

Sold ET for a 45% profit after holding since my original post about it some weeks or months ago. Originally planned on holding long but i rather trade.. Couldnt do it. Guaranteed 45% is fine by me.

Hey- that's a great idea. I also bought some ET when you guys were talking about it... It's at +40% where as some other stuff you guys talked about is at over -50% LOL.

I'm all good just wishing I put it all in ET... I really don't care but I'm holding for now.

Most of my stuff got slaughtered right after I got it LOL.. so now I'm just holding the bag ... except for ET is doing great.

No stress about it though. I only invested what I was willing to lose anyways.

Thank you for the input here. I will set a stop with CLF and let things unfold as they may, but  am not too eager to give up much more on this one...

Am glad to hear that you also use Margin accounts in a similar fashion that I plan to. I will be watching some videos later tonight to help me not make any financial mistakes with this privilege.

CLF staged a nice bounce on good volume intraday, however it still printed a lower low and lower high on the daily.  It doesn't look bad, but I am cautious here.  Overall the market just felt very lethargic today, which is not particularly surprising given tomorrow's Fed announcement.  As it's impossible to know which way the Fed may sway, let alone how the market will take it, I closed down most of my positions.  Still holding MNMD and AAPL, probably should've held AMZN as well, but with call options on such a pricey stock, I just didn't want to carry the added risk overnight.  SPWR closed ugly, as did TSLA, so I am not missing them on my screen.

See my comments in the crypto thread for a little more discussion on the Fed policy announcement tomorrow.

Hit the stop for CLF, even though I missed on that one, am glad to be out of it for the time being.

I read that there is another supply shortage coming from China potentially due to covid 19 restrictions ramping up again, which could be having some impact in market sentiment today. Still holding the usual suspects :smirk:

Are there any particular strategies for equities assuming we go into a somewhat sustained inflationary environment? My comfort zone is longer term investments, anywhere between 6 months and buy and hold.

Commodity type plays should perform well in an inflationary environment.  The problem is that you don't know how aggressively the Fed would respond in such a scenario.  While it seems unlikely that they would be too aggressive in raising rates, due to the obvious issue of servicing massive amounts of interest on the country's national debt, markets perform on the perception of future expectations, and that's a difficult thing to game when general uncertainty starts to rise.  Hence why markets (and traders, generally) tend to prefer the status quo.  With uncertainty kept to a minimum, trends develop and sustain themselves more reliably.  If inflation really does take off, cryptocurrency probably has the most to gain, especially after the recent haircut it took.

WKHS might be worth keeping an eye on for a short term trade

PLTR looks to be pushing against resistance. A break above 25 may see some decent upside

Will be ratcheting up stops tonight. Last time AMZN and AAPL went up I failed to do so and they went back down. Big long ride to nowhere, so want to avoid that mistake.

AMD could be worth taking a look at

Weekly chart is looking pretty good right now with a high volume spike on the daily

I would love to have had the 20/20 hindsight to keep AMD when I first purchased it @ $12.00; after it dropped to 7 or so, I personally cannot justify picking it up at this level - but for anyone with the cajones I will be rooting for you!

Set stops:

MSFT - 259.19
AMZN - 3434.98
ARKK - 116.17
MNMD - 3.39 (loss stop)
AAPL - 129.98

Have Mara and Riot as well, but do not have an appropriate gauge of where to set stops for them, so for the time being, am hoping they dont fall to zero suddenly .

Dow is taking a hell of a plunge but nasdaq looks strong still and there are multiple stocks in growth and tech holding well into the weekend.

Id say AMD and PLTR are two of them

Idk if money is transitioning from industrial to tech or if nadaq will soon follow or what

Noticing stocks like (FNV) and (RS) are taking big dips off recent runs.

A lot of tech and growth are hitting recent lows at 200 ma's

Any thoughts?

Just trying to follow the money and stay in trend

Looks like gold is down as well? Wonder if big money is feeling bullish about the future economy etc or what

You were in AMD at 12 !?

I've always been confused about bonds. Given most projections about increasing inflation and the FED raising rates, what effect would this likely have on a bond index fund?

Ugh, stopped out of everything before it bounced right back. It has been a frustrating few days. Gain a bunch and give it all back with poor stop locations
