I feel like the future consists of the following types of companies

Biotechnology (too many to list)
Nanotechnology (amd, ibm....)
Quantum computing (ex., quantumscape)
Space travel (Virginia galactic, spacex)
Pharmaceutical companies (again, too many to list)
Solar cells
Batteries
Recharging of electric vehicles
3D printing
Stocks that relate to cryptocurrency
Internet, apps

I think that should be in everyone's portfolio, imo, or at least your watch list

I think I might do options bets soon

Edit" I actually love that bitcoin is so heavy in price. Due to limited funds, my $1200 invested into it has taken a...$30 besting since btc fell ~$12,000 in about a week

I only care about acquiring enough bitcoin so I can regularly spend it....oh, and also cash some of it in to get a free tesla by giving them btc. By the time my car does die (last I hope it will last), a Tesla Model S will cost like 0.001btc...hopefully

Thanks for the broad spectrum future- and you're right- But what is a future when war hits- when another virus is released- when natural worldwide disasters happen.

No one knows what it is. With the advance in biotechnics what is to stop some mad scientist from breeding some super strain DNA insect to destroy the entire worlds food supply?

Try holding your stocks in your hand or getting cash out fast if you needed to.

I always say " Only invest what you are 100% willing to lose" which I heard from someone else.

Very true

I often give myself advice of "don't second guess". I had the idea to ride just novavax back when it was $20 a share and I had $6k. I also could have invested in any company that would have been profitable during these times...as bad as it sounds, I am technically giving them money to provide goods and services

But yeah, I second guessed myself on novavax, could have turned $6k into $98k, also could have invested in Cintas, the companies that make the disposable face masks, etc

GM is never a bad call for war. Also, Northrup and Lockheed Martin just won a giant contact worth $8.7b so I think they would be good choices

I think Geokills and many others have said it over and over: Don't beat yourself over "could have"

Just be happy with your own investment style- and do more to better your positions when you can.

And never invest anything you're not 100% willing to lose. Anyways- I don't want to get too off topic here..... I'm going to log in check my stonks later... I think one of mine is like -50% LOL

Yeah I try to avoid checking them but I will try to mitigate minor adjustments by selling fractions of a stock then using that to boost another stock. So far have kept my investment the same amount as I started and I even cashed out some money already

But yeah I also don't have much to work with now. It's fine though. I think the stocks I am focusing on look like long term winners...so I'll see a payout, in the future sometime

If I had a crystal ball, I would do options but I am terrible at doing bets like that

Yeah- that's literally my same story

" if this and "if that" etc I would have made $1000 but I was being a noob so I am actually still at +100 overall-

At one point I had it pumped up to like $3500 but I pulled the plug when my profits started to fade and now I'm just sitting basically even at a grand.

And I can't believe LKYSF went down so hard--- but it does make sense. Why would people go on medical record that they have psychological problems or PTSD or something and want to be given laboratory extracted mushrooms? When they can just go to the park and pick some or grow some or get them by some other means?

I'm not saying that psychedelics don't have therapeutic uses- but the idea may have blown up too fast and now it's trying to catch it's breath.

Time will tell but that is one of the penny stocks that I'm going to hold even if it goes to zero since I think I have like $170 in there.

Also- the ASTI saga is a good one. It's been on a wild ride. Might go to zero or might double- who knows. - going to hold that one was well.

Also- the TLRY one is quite the saga too- so many amazing gains and losses - but I'm holding like $200 of that currently as of a few days ago was at like -10% from initial investment.

And the dang UVXY- look how it went from $10 to $100 when the corona virus hit. I'm willing to lose some money on that one too in the chances it takes off again on some major big announcement.

Im taking Micks perspective

Just been forgetting about my investments and planning to let ride long term

But i do check my profile

Just waiting it out atm and of i get time ill try and see if i want to add to any positions

But ive been swamped and too busy

 nice man. Most of the rich people ive met in life were the kind who just bought more when their stocks went down. they didnt ever really sell. its a weird backwards thinking type trading to buy when a stock is not performing, but i dunno.

Current portfolio in order of share size:

AAPL
VZ
MSFT
NVDA
AMZN

still have 6k to contribute this year, but am holding out as I might allocate the money into a self directed IRA which would allow me to trade cryptocurrencies without paying taxes on them. Still trying to assess which custodian offers the lowest annual fees, which in my opinion are all a bit too steep  (around $300/year [for 20 more years!!] with no assurance that that annual cost wont rise...)

Been sitting out of the equity market for a little stretch now, although the S&P has hung in there, I am really not pleased with the action "under the hood" so to speak.  I am however taking a spin on PENN and FDX this morning.  FDX looking good longer term.  PENN is broken but showing some positive signals here early on an intraday basis.  I do not plan to stick around overnight with anything more than a placeholder with PENN in particular.  Initial stops at low of day.

Adding a tranche of VIPS as well, one of the casualties of the Archegos margin call, that before then seemed like a stock that could do nothing but go higher.  Reflexive reversion trade.  Hard stop @ $29.95.

Ah what the hell, I'm even going to YOLO into a bit of TSLA here.  Looks like $600 could be a short-term floor.  Stops at low of day on all positions.  The bond market seems hell bent on front running the Fed with rising interest rates, and that is always a major headwind for the equity market, as evidenced by how choppy the action has been over the past weeks, and why I've largely sat it out.  But it looks like there's a little money to be made today, with my FDX calls up 36% and PENN up 10% so far.  Let's see if we can squeeze a little more juice out of this thing.

VIPS testing the volume weighted average price (VWAP) presently.  Tightened up my stop to $30.99, VIPS needs to recover VWAP quickly, or I'm out.

FDX calls up north of 44% now, as well the underlying moving above its earning's breakaway high from 3/19.  On a strong close, will hold at least half overnight.

TSLA doing OK, but hitting some resistance at its 8 day EMA.  On a strong close, I will hold half overnight.

PENN has a small profit cushion, but no real momentum and is still locked in a definitive downtrend on the daily chart, so I've tightened up my stop to VWAP, which is also the home of yesterday's late day resistance before the close.  I don't expect to hold this overnight.

Not a bad day to be up 7% in the face of a down market.  I was stopped out of VIPS earlier in the day for a small loss.  Sold half of my FDX into the close for a +52% gain.  Sold all of my PENN for +20%.  Hanging onto TSLA overnight as it looks set to close at its highs of the day on decent volume.

Overall market still not very enticing, which means lower expectations, which in turn means fewer trades, smaller position size and less overnight holding.

NVDA moving above yesterday's inside day after a long period of consolidation with coiled moving averages, basically a touch and go off of its 200 day, added via May $515 calls.

CGC showing impressive opening volume and moving above the upper range of the last six trading sessions.  Not really planning to stick around in this one for a long time (so I purchased relatively short expiry April calls for this trade), as I read that the Biden admin let go of a bunch of people due to prior cannabis convictions not long ago, and that doesn't exactly bode well for pushing through federal legalization (even as I do think there will be a push for decriminalization which could still lend a good pop to these stocks -- state of NY last week spoke of legalizing locally).

Adding May calls on SWKS, pretty choppy sideways action, but looking constructive, stop @ $179.50.

TSLA calls now up 35%, retaking its 8 day EMA but held at its 20 day EMA.  Bit of a battleground and not wanting to fight too hard for more profits on this one, ratcheting up stop to the morning lows @ $640 to give it a little bit of room but also lock in a nice gain if it reverses.

To be expected, I'm afraid. Telsa's biggest strength is its ability to grab other people's goodies. Just look at how they structured the terms of their 'buy with bitcoin' deal...

Welp, good to be back on here, lol.

Ok so I took out all of my positions about a week ago, was not sure where things were going, the plan was to jump back in, and I eventually did, taking a position in

BA
AAPL
AMZN
TLRY

So far so good, still sitting on a bit of cash, and ready to either pull out or put it all back in. The initial move to all cash was probably the right call, though maybe to the tune of $4-500.

Welcome back everyone

News floating on capital gains tax increase, potentially upwards of 40%+.  Market very unhappy and selling on high volume.  I had very little exposure to begin with, as most breakouts have been failing, and opening gaps haven't been holding for quite a while now... and I have since exited all positions and am completely flat on the equity side.
