AMC - Opened up for a few minutes, halted again.  I dished out half my position for a 25% gain, will look to sell the other half at +50% and will probably call it a day.

Fidelity and Schwab also reporting issues... again.  I use TDA and still have connectivity, although there is some significant lag, making active trading all but impossible.  I recommend always having your Think or Swim java platform open prior to the open, as it tends to hold up way better than the web interface.  Keep a copy of the mobile app on your phone as well.

Sharing some words from Dan @ StockMarketMentor.com (plug: go get a membership ):

Quote:

Just a quick FYI about the casino stocks (I'm not talking Vegas. I'm talking short squeezes).

The major firms have had enough! They are stopping this game where the small retail traders on reddit and in other chatrooms are organized and putting their stimulus checks to work by crushing the greedy and arrogant hedge funds who have overplayed their hands on stocks like $GME $BB and $AMC, and have put themselves in an unbelievably risky position. They never thought that what is happening now...would ever actually happen.

This is how the game is played when things get really bad for connected firms. The brokers and regulators all huddle up and make a move that stops the madness and puts things back to where they are "supposed" to be -- where the institutional money controls the action and manipulates stock by either shaking out the little guy so they can buy, or sucking him in by juicing the stock so they can sell. When the game is turned around, actions will be taken.

Most of the major brokerage firms are now refusing trades on these heavily shorted stocks unless they are "closing" trades. This simple magic trick completely shuts off the buying pressure that has been pushing these stocks higher. They've effectively sucked all the helium out of the balloon. So, the only buying trades that will be allowed are those trades that close short positions. These firms are essentially letting the dumb money (short hedge funds) escape by locking out the smart money (the little guys who have banded together to crush the hedgies).

By disallowing any new buying pressure, the brokerage firms are doing exactly what the TV guys have been complaining about -- "the small investor is going to get hurt." In reality, what they were saying is that, "If this goes on, the big money is going to rig the market and crush the little guy because this isn't supposed to happen. Big firms are supposed to be cleaning up...and that's just the way it is. So these retail traders need to shut up, get back in their little corners, sit down and know their place." That's the way Wall Street works.

This is an extreme example of why the ONLY way to be consistent in your trading performance is to always look at risk first. You should be backing into every trade by defining exactly how much money you are risking...and then weighing that risk against the potential reward. A simple way for Melvin Capital Mismanagement, and the many other firms that were short $GME was to simply buy calls to limit their losses. If the stock started getting squeezed, their calls would explode in value and thus mitigate the loss they were taking on their short stock position. Why didn't they do this? Well, because that would have limited their profits too. They have to pay for insurance, and they were so confident that the fundamentals in Gamestop sucked so much that this was a sure thing. No need for insurance. And that's just dumb.

$GME just opened at 274.85. It's now at $300.17...and halted. (Oops. It opened back up and is now halted at $351.82 -- gotta keep the little guy from running it up again). Where is the buying coming from? The short sellers who are closing their positions. Again, the brokers are letting them out and locking out the little guy.

You will see this game being played all day. Stock opens up to let the institutions escape, and is then halted for a while until these institutions can figure out their next move...and how they can buy more shares without pushing up the stock. you'll see periodic huge prints -- just huge blocks of shares. It is a rigged game now, and because the implications are sooo sooo severe where billions can be lost, the firms don't even care if you know what's happening. It goes beyond that. They just have to save their asses...even if it's obvious.

Nobody cared when the high frequency trading firms (like Citadel, which proudly has Ben Bernanke on its board) knocked down the market by finding air pockets and stop levels to be exploited...and front running the retail order flow because they were paying for it. Why? Because the right guys were making money. And CNBC could just talk about how the little guy needs to have their money managed professionally so that they wouldn't panic during these times. Thus...robot trading was born. Robotrading accounts where the computer programs can manage your money. And, of course, allow you to go in an override the program when you see things going against you. So it's really nothing more than a new gimmick in an old game -- let the pros do it for you.

My challenge to you is to just stick to your knitting. When you have a trading process that accounts for risk via textbook entries on uptrending stocks, proper position size, number of stocks being held at any one time, stop loss levels, etc., then you have a sustainable business model. But if you disregard risk, you have no business model. You have no plan. You are just gambling by gut instinct. The only time I think about my gut is when I'm taking the probiotics that my wife always bugs me to take...so I have a healthy gut. When it comes to trading, your gut isn't a good trading tool. Your mind is what you need to rely on...and your mind must be disciplined and always focusing on risk vs. reward.

You need to decide whether you are a gunslinger, or a trader. You need to decide whether you are an action junkie, or a risk manager. That's your choice, and I can't make it for you.

(Now $GME is at $400 and moving higher. Trade at your own risk. And if you are trading, trade small so that your losses are contained. I can't tell you what to do on this. We should see this stock halted several times today so that the hedge funds can get out.)

Have a great day...and don't do stupid stuff.

What you guys thought they were just gonna take that laying down? that was a good laugh. People can cry free speech or this or that all they want. Its market manipulation plain and simple. Its not good for the market or good for business. Theyre not just gonna let you fuck up the money. How do people feel about actual casino stocks tho?

Good idea.  Grabbed some MSOS last night as well as SLV.

Yeah that guy nailed it.  Nobody thought that they were going to take it lying down.  Chief your comment earlier about how there needs to be more regulation and whatever and this can't be allowed to happen ever again is kinda whack seeing how this is just karma.  You're free to see it how you want.

Edit: Your tone def gives off a  "my brother works at a xxx Capital" or you're heavily invested.  I could be 100% wrong.

No more AMC for me, closed out for an average 22% overnight gain.  I'm not a martyr, I'm a trader.

Yeah maybe the games over. Figured it would be hard pressed to spread long.

Little guys cant manipulate the market but big guys, no problem.

Ill still hold for a while

Yeah what the hell are you talking about chief? The market is already manipulated just by a small select group while everyone else is unaware.

PENN is best of breed.  I was in this a couple months ago and did pretty well, hoping for a deeper pull back to its 50 day to add, but it's bouncing at its 20 instead.

The weekly chart tells the story, you want to own this.

AAPL could be ripe for the picking here, with an after earnings bounce off of its 8 day EMA.  Stop below $138.

I got out of my GME and AMC today...GME dropped exponentially so was only up ~48% on that. Figured the show is over here. Halts non-stop too, surprised the order went through. AMC I broke even. Now AMC is down hard...

The hedge funds have the power, the brokers don't care about us. It was fun well it lasted but that snippet geokills posted from Dan is on point.

Time to focus on some real stocks

Funded my account with some new cash. Wish I had held my position in Tilray, wasn't much but I had grabbed a few shares @17.85 previously. Sold them at 19 like a week ago. Will be looking to see if I can get back in on a dip.

I don't know. Most of the traders interested in GME and BB for instance couldn't purchase any today with many brokers closing the buying of those stocks. I don't think  the war is over at all
