Man if TLRY slow marches back up to 17 that just shows how solid it is. Also 2pm already looking like crunch time

it took an hour 15 minutes to fill. GME. That stock is chaos. I got a good price, but it took a long fucking time. Even during the March 2020 volitility it wasn't so hard to get shit to fill.

There's always a bull market somewhere, but there are huge long periods of times when the major index doesn't move for investors.

The QQQ peaked in 2000 and didn't get back to that level until 2017.

The SPY peaked in 2000 and didn't get back there until 2013.

Some companies in the peak of the bubble like Qualcomm didn't get back to even until like July last year. 20 years with no returns and many companies never made it out.

I'm not saying this is the top. I don't know. No one knows. Interest rates are going to stay low for a long time, money doesn't have anywhere else to go, but the returns seen in the last 12 months are not typical. They don't always go up. They regularly go down quickly.

Were you in the market in March 2020? That was a time. It was ciricuit breakers tripping everyday for like 2 weeks. The index would move 7%, 10%. You'd have 1500 point swings on the dow. It was absolutely bonkers.

And I don't really know what kind of investor / trader you are, your strategy, and I don't know your risk tolerance. Mike Tyson used to say "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

I bought my first stock in 2005. I didn't have online banking at that point. You had to go down to the bank and physically deposit money or transfer it over, and then there was some automated call thing where you'd punch in numbers to get to the stock you wanted to check or buy and Press 1 to buy kind of thing. It was crazy. Or maybe I did have online banking, but there were no smart phones yet for the common folk. I don't remember anyway.

Bull markets can end, know what your strategy is. Stick with it.

No i just got in the stock market literally like 2 weeks ago

My main investments are MP, AMD, BABA, Li, xpeng, APHA, was planning to grab some NIO, and i have a smaller stake in a few other small stocks and some gold stocks

My plan was to go heavy in MP and consistently add to my positions assuming they perform well, maybe add some other positions as well

Considered bailing on my li xpeng and not grabbing nio but i think they will perform well long term so having a hard time letting go..

Might sell baba if it gets to its old high or a little past idk..

No one knows when a market will roll over man. I'm not selling any of my holdings, but I'd exercise some caution. There is a reason safe government backed investments will give you 1% a year and Gamestop will give you 100% in 3 days.

Risk is reward. Reward is risk. Sometimes you lose.

Thanks for the infobomb Geo, Ahab. I had to read that all 2 times over and watch a few youtube videos but now it makes sense :smirk: . Good to be on the holding end of Gamestop or a similar ready to squeeze stock (I suppose by coincidence or intent) with a sell order somewhere in the 2-3x range. Still sounds like a guy like me would just be left with sadness heh.

None of my stops hit today despite a rather down Monday. Somehow my portfolio is at an ATH. Guess I need to keep a close eye on it, but yeah, hope things for the time being continue to 'melt up' (this should be a peewee's secret word of the day )

I got shaken out of nearly everything yesterday except RIG .  Turns out the mid-morning swoon was more of a fire drill than an actual emergency, and I did rebuild a partial position in TLRY before the close.

Cannabis is firing up this morning and I've been leaning into CGC and TLRY pretty heavy, with positive result.  The opening volume on these two has been tremendous and they are definitely changing their short-term patterns.  CGC from a sideways high base to a breakout and TLRY from a pretty steep pullback to an upside reversal.  I like them both, but I am generally weary of the market overall.  Not really a bad thing though, as the market always climbs a wall of worry.

If everybody things it's easy going, that's where the real danger lay.

The Biden administration has been pushing for this to be a priority, and incoming Treasury secretary Yellen further encouraged congress to go big and get it done.  However, several republicans are not happy with the proposed $1.9T price tag, and in conjunction with Trump's impeachment trial set to begin in the senate during the week of February 8th, it's difficult to say whether a stimulus bill can pass quickly.

In stock specific news, I had sold out of my PLCE for a +120% gain yesterday.  I have re-entered the position on today's 6% pullback, and will plan to add more if we get to tagging the stock's 20 day moving average.

Active traders may want to keep an eye on YQ.

The last I read, they are pushing for $1400 more, but to get enough votes there will be increased income restriction on who gets it compared to the first two checks.

Looked up the plan the $1400 and unemployment increase and extention is in there heres what in there for small business
"The plan calls for providing $15 billion to create a new grant program for small business owners, separate from the existing Paycheck Protection Program.

It also proposes making a $35 billion investment in some state, local, tribal, and non-profit financing programs that make low-interest loans and provide venture capital to entrepreneurs"

Theyre saying it might not fly. He also tried to tuck in money for families with "mixed immigration status" and some other malarkey thats people will likey flip a shit over

Some comments regarding GME from the owner over on the StockMarketMentor.com forums:
Quote:

$GME -- I love seeing the big guys get smoked. This is a gamma squeeze of monumental proportions, and the small timers are leading the charge...just buying and buying. Calls and more calls. And now the heavily monied people are getting in on it, buying tens of thousands of calls, which forces more stock buying throughout the day to keep their positions hedged. Melvin Capital -- smoked! Had to get a huge bailout from Citadel and Point72. It's a funny game. Citadel, which buys retail order flow so it can front run it and also get a read on who is doing what, is the firm that's bailing out the very fund that it KNEW was getting crushed. So it's on both sides of that trade...and winning on both sides. (And, of course, Ben Bernanke has been making millions for being an "advisor" to Citadel since he left the Fed. And since Bernanke stinks to high heaven, it is truly a match made...in heaven).

What really happened is that the stay-at-home Robin Hooders figured out that they can jump on a stock and squeeze the shorts. It's much more fun than buying bitcoin...and easier, too. Tons of stocks with huge short interest. So it's like a playground for young stock traders...with an unlimited flow of cash. Just wait til those $2000 (er., I mean $1400) checks go out.

Every once in a while, the little guy wins. I don't have a position in $GME now -- I made a few bucks today, but nothing worth talking about. But this is turning out to be a pretty great daytrading stock, even for a guy like me who doesn't like volatility in his portfolio. Smooth and steady is best. But when you have a chance to put your boot on the throat of the crooks, why not stomp down as hard as you can?

Still looking for $400 before this thing is over. Remember $TSLA. That company has some pretty brutal fundamentals, but the stock is about halfway to Mars. In such situations, the fundies really don't matter. it's just a function of who is doing what.

Fun times tomorrow. That's for sure.

Dan

More portnoy type play in the markets. These type of things aren't new but I dont think the alot market really has recognized they type of pull things like these really have had during this year. Smart money would have played around atleast a little bit with it.

I hope the FANGS and Tesla get cut back down soon.  The notion that TESLA has 17x the market cap of Ford is pretty telling..  Theres several EV related stocks that have not yet produced a single battery or vehicle worth more then GM.  The Gamestop thing really is certainly the foamy froth on top of how speculative our markets have become. Im not in any positions just yet but i have all my inverse etf waiting on my lists for when it happens. But who knows now Yellen  is the Treasury Sec and she is all about bailouts and QE. Because of her and Bernanke  I was very interested in AG a decade ago and missed out on so much with these momentum stocks and useless bank accounts. But perhaps we are in the new normal where fundamental important stuff just 20 years ago doesnt really matter any more. But I do know springtime is going to see some major civil unrest around the globe perhaps devolving into street fights right here in the USA.  I hope not,  I hope the SJW woke movement cannot be co opted any further to hide the real class struggle thats going on?

Tesla has an army of internet idiots, fucking whole governments including China and US sucking his cock theres a bunch of other ppl you could pile on. Yeah its silly the stock is worth more than ppl actually turning profit or even just selling vehicles. The point is you can't kill that kinda momentum no matter how fucking stupid at actual business musk is. Just let him put his ballsack in the vice for now and set everything up for the top american Chinese and jap auto makers

Yeah i would love to be a part of tesla if i didnt worry it was far overbought. But like you said it doesnt matter. All that matters is if people think more people will buy and more people do buy.

But not a good investment as far as i can tell except that i do think tesla will continue to be successful.
