A quick tip from me
GERON CORP (NasdaqGM:GERN) - currently $5.58
The own loads of patents on stem cell technologies. Great potential long term, plus they would also benefit a little in the short term from a Democrat win in the election

Even though their company hasn't done anything wrong yet, the collateral damage from the problems in the aggregate government-backed mortgage market are likely to keep negative pressure on this name. Sometimes it's just better to cut your losses and redistribute that capital to something with a better outlook (or buy back the same stock at a lower price). If Annaly falls below $14, I will be buying, but this market is just so tough right now, and I'd rather build up cash on hand for what looks to be the path of least resistance, down.
I think you're crazy in the current climate to hold any stock in companies dealing in financial instruments. Unless you're a day trader, going purely technical or using CFDs I would avoid like the plague as there is too much risk and uncertainty.

Edit: Made two purchases on Goldman, at $145 ... and again right before the close at $132. They will report their quarterly results this week and they probably won't be pretty - but shares have taken a huge hit, so I am betting that most of the downside has been priced in.
I think you are crazy. I wouldn't touch an investment bank's stock with someone else's barge pole right now. The risks are just too high. In this kind of environment you could wake up to find the price had dropped to zero. There are surely better risk/reward ratios out there you could find?

And possibly one of the most important factors, that the market was able to close today without severe losses, will help improve sentiment for next week's trading.
I think they fucked up big-time by not announcing anything today, they can't afford to wait a few weeks to work out something they all agree on.
Dow futures are -220

I have just started buying in London after a rest of a few years
Picked up some GSK and Unilever, which should outperform during a recession.
