At the college I go to they have two mycology courses, but they are upper division biology/botany courses and require many prereq's.

Any type of biological science is fairly interesting.
Why do you want to study mycology?

I don't know you so it's kind of hard to say whether or not that's a good choice for you, but the first thing that comes to mind is that mycology as a college major sounds like an immature decision based on drugs. That may not apply to you, just what comes to mind.

always been interested in mushrooms, magic, and gourmet. it's a fungus with 2000+ different species, something i think would be an interesting area of study.

Bio would be interesting, and rewarding, for me anyway. Science in general is a great arena of study. I don't have any more classes to waste but I read up on stuff in my free time, mainly theoretical physics, fascinating shit.

Why the fuck don't you go into pharmacology and toxicology? You can fuck with a lot more drugs than shrooms. Inject that shit into mice and watch them trip their faces off. Hah. Then die.

ya.
pharmacology is a much more lucrative field.. especially if you pursue it past just a bs..
mycology could be a growing field if you have an honest genuine interest you could probably make a living with mushrooms and stuff finding uses for them..
pretty sure they helped clean up some oil spills using oyster mushrooms and stuff (source.. i dunno i just heard it somewhere)
the jobs are out there.. it's just finding them is a problem
plus how do you tell your parents/family/people that you are studying mycology? they'd be like what are you gonna do with that? why you studying that?
then it all comes out..

If you want to get involved with mushroom science; ie working in a laboratory at a spawn lab or farm, the only option in the U.S. is Penn State.
