Driving to the store after 2 days of heavy rains I noticed some oysters growing from a semi rotted stump ..from what tree I have no clue.. I decided to go back the next day when it would be sunny outside to take pictures ... These things grew huge overnight ... This is the second time I found these ..they showed up first at the end of summer/fall rains Pics arn't so great for the cam isn't the best .. but you get the idea
This would be the first mushroom find for me this winter ..I'm still stoked about these.. I found some recipes and ate the smaller mature oysters, raw with rice and soy sauce Mmm Mmmm .. stir fried probaly would have been better ...

EDIT: ok well I'm really about to just delete this because imageshack isn't working and I'm not wanting to upload the full sized images and even direct image links wont show up :crankey: I'm pissed now :mad2:

I won't click offsite images, especially from imageshack, but what I can see from just the thumbnail above doesn't look like oysters. Raw oysters are nasty. My favorite way to cook them is stir fried in a garlic butter wine sauce. RR

You might not like to click on offside images, but you are about to see four of them. Muhahahahha.

Its oysters.
> Raw oysters are nasty.
There is one guy that has eaten over 300 species of mushrooms raw, and oysters are the only one that gave him an upset stomach.
> My favorite way to cook them is stir fried in a garlic butter wine sauce.
I like them deep fried with beer batter (50% beer, 50% flour).

i have never taste a bitter pleurotus , in my experience they become more hard in texture, but not bitter maybe depend on what type of tree where growing , those are real nice pleurotus ostreatus specie good for cloning , all my best vibrations,

sure , i have notice pleurotus grow in unusual tree sometimes , here is rare the same specie can be pink or white in the same tree p djamours, sometimes light and nutrient affect color and maybe taste of pleurotus. for me are real good i enjoy the hard texture of the stems sometimes when are that big the stem are a bit hairy , all my best.
