Well, i've been thinking about this for about a week. Is it possible for humans to have a spiritual sense of the future? I am not speaking of a world war or the next president, but smaller things such as what somebody is thinking, what somebody is going to say, or something even smaller, such as...
I was walking out to my car to smoke a cigarette without my shoes on and spit (bad habit I am aware) and thought to myself, "I'm going to step in that on the way back." Perhaps I was guessing, but I TOLD myself I was GOING to step in it. Of course, I did not step in it because I had thought about it. If humans have the ability to sense things such as this, are you merely canceling it out? If I hadn't thought about stepping in it would I have? What is the point of predicting then? If you have a thought like this, do you let it happen. Or do you change the outcome of your thoughts?
Another example would be wondering if you and an ex-girlfriend were to get back with one another. Are humans afraid to predict such things because of the fear of failure? Can we only predict the good? Would thinking about the future with your ex give you high hopes and set you up for failure?
I don't know, it is kind of hard to get my point across. Lately I have been having a lot of coincidences like saying something another person said at the exact moment. Perhaps this is just a coincidence, or merely being something obvious that would have been said on the subject. Also, stating something like, "I went to Pet Co for the first time today" and another person saying, "Wow! I was just thinking you should go there for the cheap dog food."
Anybody?

i think a lot of people shrug it off.
really i think most of it is coincidence but a lot of stuff is like.. well ok now lets think about this for a second.
i dunno. nothing so profound has happened to me that i can recall it at the moment so i dont think it's a big deal.

I don't think your "stepping in spit" theory works. I've told myself I'm going to do things and due to forgetting had neglected to do so.

I see no evidence for this possibility. Often we know little things by picking up information from the surrounding environment, mostly unconsciously.

The subconsciousness works only in affirmative ways, so it is more likely to step into it

Towards the end of 'sky' it mentions that the mind HAS a self-fulfilling mechanism which you should be aware of (but not fight). There was a palmist in Germany who was good at predicting people's deaths (which weren't suppose to happen), and when someone suggested he predict his own death - he did so; and at the end of the appointed time he jumped out a window to his death below.
This is more interesting in light of the fact (in his autobi.) that when the author was about six months old, his parents went to see an astrologer for him (IT was highly respected in India) who rejected their request on the grounds that he didn't do that for anyone who wasn't going to live for at least seven years. And should he survive, the situation would reoccur every seven years.
