Fruiting chambers

What's a good, cheap way to make a fruiting chamber that will give me good results?

What are you planning on doing- bulk grows or small cakes?

Cakes:

This is just a 10 gallon aquarium with a plastic garbage bag for a lid. It's humidified by wet perlite and hand-fanned for fresh air exchange. Cheap and effective.

Bulk:

This is a double tub, which requires you to use a bulk sub, but once you have spawned and cased, it's on auto-pilot. also cheap and effective.

You need to do some serious research. Start here:

Just cakes. Where can I find perlite? How much do I use? And how much light do you expose them to?

light is a big deal. you want 12/12 cycle for fruiting. check out rr's brf video tek on youtube and it'll have a good fruiting chamber for smaller to medium grows. perlite is available at homedepot or lowes.

Better yet, call your local library and request them to get a copy or two to have on stock.

Nah, light actually isn't that big of a deal. RR will tell you that it is one of the least important factors in triggering pinning. You can also check out Mycofile's Bulk Neglect report, where he only exposed his fruiting chamber (cardboard box) to very little light once a day and still got great results:

are you saying that light is a big deal because you have grown many times and changed the lighting enough to know what works and what doesnt?
Or did you just watch rr video and you are repeating something that you do not know to be true?

Light isnt as big as a deal as most make it to be. natural indirect light is fine, sitting in the corner of your bedroom is fine. Sitting in your closet with the light off and the door open is fine.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

58 quart you mean?

try to take it back and get one with a clear lid.. if not, it's not really that big of a deal.

and doltishvirtuoso, you are the one that is being an ass. foomanshroom answered your first question very nicely with pictures and everything. that's like the mulligan... even though all of this information is readily available throughout our site by simply searching. that's what he meant by research.

just chill out and you might actually learn a thing or two.. then you can talk shit to all the nubs who come on here askin obvious questions...

i dont know why, but here is a picture of method man:

Actually, I've never minimized the importance of light. Other factors must be met before light becomes an issue, but bright, high frequency light for several hours per day is going to deliver better results than ambient room light. If you want a few shrooms, just use ambient. If you want a wall to wall flush, use bright light with a color temperature above 5000 Kelvin for at least several hours per day. Much more can be found using the search feature.

Having a non clear lid is not a big deal, simply cut an area almost the size of the lid then tape perspex to the hole. If u dont have clear perspex, use cling film taped over the whole.

Thats what i use on my fruiting chamber and it works great.
