Will this pressure cooker work, or should i consider other methods?

I currently own a Livart L-0510V rice pressure cooker, It is pretty fancy and makes food very well.
The question i have is, will this do the job correctly? At the moment, i can find no place that lets me adjust the pressure. on the back of it says pressure control device - .7 kgf/cm^2 and pressure safety device 1.3 kgf/cm^2.
Using the only conversion tables, this roughly comes out to PCD - 9 PSI, and PSD - 17 PSI.
The only thing i can see to change is the time it cooks for.
Is this a probable solution, or should i consider using the boiling method?
I have searched for a manual, but alas there is little information on it aside from what i have gleaned off of the physical cooker.
Here is a pic,
and if that didn't work, please go to http://www.lglivart.com/catalog/images/L-0510Vsmall.gif
Thank you in advance, ~HappyCake

I don't think it will work. It sounds like it is going to try and keep it at 9 p.s.i. and in case of problems the safety plug will blow at 17 you want around 15 psi to kill everything.

So then, the boiling water method will be sufficient it appears.
It looks like in the future i will be purchasing a pressure cooker.

If your using BRF then the steam sterilization (boiling method) has had alot of good results. Personally I use the steam sterilization and have so far had good results.

Well, I disagree. I don't know if I would use it for grains, but it will probably work just fine, if not better than steaming for PF style work. I use 12 psi cooker, (until my new AA gets here... sweet) and have read plenty of posts of people using 10 psi ones, as well. just extend your times a little and you'll be golden.

You do not need at least 15 psi. That is not true. 15 psi is just the gold standard when it comes to pressure cookers. Take the PC times of whatever tek you are using, and extend them 30%, maybe.
