You really get to witness how your mind works and how it creates belief over and over again. Yet many still don't realize what's happening. What is happening? We are creating beliefs and discarding others all the time. I think it's healthy as long as you are aware of it. Staying stuck in one belief is very dangerous for humans IMO. It' causes severe ossification and your kids will think you're lame, or they will believe your beliefs which is way worse.

It seems to be the way we humans operate in this world. I think that the most valuable advantage of realizing that it is all belief after all, is that it comes as a great aid in breaking and releasing the tension, and also this tendency of giving unhealthy importance to the events that we experience.

All this time I've loved you And never known your face All this time I've missed you And searched this human race Here is true peace Here my heart knows calm Safe in your soul Bathed in your sighs

i think being aware of it isn't enough. it's up to the person to put in energy to change a belief or at the very least, analyze it.
and even then, one has to act as well. the action helps set in motion the repetitions that allow us to discard one belief while accepting another.
but even then, this topic is way too general due to the levels and varying degrees of what the belief is about.
there are certain beliefs that have to deal with the creation or non creation of the universe, while other beliefs describe how a certain situation will pan out (ie if a buy a certain product, will it last me as long if I buy a more expensive one?).
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I think you make a tremendous point. Plasticity > Rigidity

This is not what I am talking about. I'm not talking about trying to change any belief. That just happens moment to moment and year to year. The point is IMO, not to get caught in the ossifying trap of believing your beliefs are reality.
