The only things I sit down and watch are Jeopardy and NFL football. I turn it on to CNN in the morning just for company. Isn't that fucked how it is comforting to just have the TV on even if you are not watching it?

Yeah, that's kind of fucked up, especially if you are watching the news, as if you needed to hear bad news just to start off your day . But I'm sure that's not what it's about. I don't watch TV anymore, but I've been watching The Sopranos online lately.

National Amusements is the parent company for Viacom who owns part of comedy central.

I still watch some TV... there are interesting programs on Discovery and History sometimes. Simpsons/family guy/south park are probably the best thing on TV methinks.

yeah, I like those things too, but I mean who actually sits down and ONLY watches TV?

Usually I'm on the laptop or do something else while the TV is going. The only time I ever just sit and watch TV is at my parents... and that's probably b/c they don't have a wireless router... LOL

I'll watch TV when there's nothing on the Internet :rotfl:

Internet > TV

I watch the news, standup comedy, some talkshows, I watch documentaries on Discovery and National Geographic, I watch movies mostly on DVD and that sums up 90% of my television time.

Most of whats on TV is garbage I don't need, interrupted by people who want to sell me garbage I don't need.

Ah, Happy Tree Friends.. catchy tune, fun flick to watch (at Mondo, not the TV)

Most of my friends think it's fucked up and no fun at all. I guess they still haven't gotten over the shattering of their own innocence, because that's on a deeper level what HTF is about.

You're having happy harmless fun and then Destiny comes and fucks you over in the most terrible way imaginable. Such is life sometimes. Way to go Happy Tree Friends

I watched "Montel" today and I have to say that it blew all my perceptions about these talk shows out of the water.  Best show I've seen on network TV in years.

He had nutritionists come on and tell people the basic things that EVERYONE should know, about how to eat healthier and how something as small as walking at a brisk pace 30-45 minutes a day reduces the risks of Cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, etc by hundreds of percents.

I might be biased because I'm majoring in this field, but damn I'm glad someone's trying to educate the fat, unhealthy masses.

I'm buying this book for a few people in my girlfriend's family because of the show I saw today.  http://www.amazon.com/Living-Well-Transform-Supercharge-Spectacular/dp/0451222938/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199394778&sr=8-1

Isn't Montel a huge MJ advocate?

Yeah I think he's got a medical card, but even if I'm wrong about that he's a pot advocate for sure.

I like the guy a lot, he belongs in a class of his own apart from the TV trash that's on in the mornings/afternoons.
