okay, so i have exprience growing P. ostreatus and H. erinaceus, and have decided to try my hand at cubes. I'm planning on making my set up a little more advanced, as i wold like to keep better control of temps and humidity. I was planning on tagging one of these guys: http://sporeworks.com/store/catalog/Seedling-Heat-Mat-Incubator-Heat-Pad-Electronic-Thermostat-Con-p-16335.html and one of these: http://sporeworks.com/store/catalog/Tropicaire-Humidifier-and-Air-Exchanger-with-Air-Pump-p-16262.html and some cubes to my next order of spores and such...I will probably use the medium sized spawn bags from the sporeworks filled with rye berries to get my initial spawn going from my syringes. I then plan on setting up casings in tubs with these 2 devices running for temperature, FAE and humidity. How many/how big of trays/tubs could i manage with just one each of these devices? and also, do they work good and are they worth getting (does anyone have these particular devices as well?)? thanks!

I use a heating blanket and just place a thermostat near the jars. Works well! You might be able to find a cheaper eletronic blanket near you.

yeah, that thing seemed to be pretty expensive for what it is...i thought i might try to look around for something like that and that mister thing as well, but i really don't know where to go about looking. Where could i find these things at a store near me? maybe a nursery? it says those heat mats are for seed germination...
edit: i did already buy an aquarium heater so i could try to set up one of those double tub insulated deals with the heater in water inside of the outer tub, but it didn't work very well. I couldn't get the temp in the water up to what i wanted it to be, and the heater cost me like $35....that was a waste.

Growing up I went through the most painful growing pains in my knees. So I used a heating blanket every night to help reduse the pain. So you might call Wal-Mart, fred meyer, etc.
As for the mister, nursury is a good idea.

i don't know what to do now...although i could probably find something that will work, but these things seem very quality, and seem as if they would be easy to use. What with the heat probe, and thermometer, is this a good method for keeping temps stable? same with the mister... it seems like i might be able to find something like it around, but something that would work as well for as much trouble?

well shit, i just ordered them, i figure the heat mat will be exceptionally useful in the incubation stage, so it'll be good to get with all the spores...no time to waste!

i was planning on putting a good inche or two of perlite in the bottom of the tub with the heating pad underneath it, then set my trays on top of the perlite with the mister in the top of the tub. Does this sound like a good method for fruiting chamber?

That's what I have, except I manually FAE. Put the heating pad at a low setting, and place a thermometer in the FC.

i ended up getting the heat mat with the adjustable temp gauge and heat probe. I plan on sticking the probe right in between the trays with my thermometer and hygrometer attached to the side directly above the trays. still sound like a good idea?
