I was curious to see if i could do spawn without a pc i tested out nine jars inoculated with pf spawn. so far there is plenty of growth and no signs of contam. has anyone else tried this? i have a pc but i have a very large canning pot that would be much more convinent. how is it the pf tek requires no pc but grain does? is it due to the enospores?

They are not different, they are just easy to get to and kill because its processed and ground.
Use the PC if you want results with grain.

different in the fact that ground rice's are easier to kill because they're exposed and grains are not

Rice is a grain that contains very few endospores most of the time (you might get unlucky and get a bad batch.
Other grains it is the opposite, they normally have higher endospore counts and if you are lucky you will get a batch with a low count.
Since you can't rely on luck all the time and want consistency in this hobby, unless you are prepared to risk a high amount of failures you will PC grains.
Let's hope you got lucky, remember that other species of fungi also have white mycelium. The fact that you did a G2G instead of a spore injection is a big bonus in your favour.

well i think i lucked out so far to colonized beautifully with out pc. the others are looking good also. what are the chances that this actually worked? now is there any way that these completely colonized with bacteria growth?

yes i boiled for 90 minutes and kept them in the pot over night. it is an old canning pot not a pressure cooker. made of relitvely thin aluminum
