WildCrafting Marijuana
    #7822469 - 01/02/08 02:08 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

One can safely grow enough marijuana to last all year by following this simple tek.

Marijuana is a tall weed, so locating a place where it will thrive is as simple (or as difficult) as finding a place already inhabited by tall weeds. Most wild weeds are perennials that survive winter in fattened underground roots. Energy stored in their roots give perennials a competitive advantage over annuals like marijuana that start from seed each spring.  But if you root up the wild weeds and loosen the soil, annuals gain an advantage due to their bigger seeds and faster growth rates.

In the early spring start scouting for a place to plant, if anybody asks you what you are doing tell them you are looking for mushrooms, or watching birds, or looking for a place to fish.  Your story will be more plausible if you are actually also hunting mushrooms, bird watching, or fishing. Whenever you are in possession of a fishing pole be sure to have a license. Carry a back pack for your digging tools and fertilizer. Bring food and water.

Look for the dead stems of tall weeds in places secluded from view that will likely receive zero human traffic before hunting season in the fall. Zero human traffic is essential. Anybody who finds your plants will likely take them or tell somebody about them. Also be ware of animals that might dig up the seeds or eat the seedlings; the ideal spot will be far from any beaten path.

Once you find a safe spot with lots of tall dead stems, you need to dig up the roots of the resident weeds. Yes, you are taking innocent life, but it's for a good cause .

Be sure to wear cloves to protect your fingernails from infection. Dig up the weed roots with a spade and break up the clods of dirt with your hands. Clear at least one square meter of all roots and break up the soil to about a foot down before mixing in the fertilizer. 4-6 month time release fertilizer can be purchased at Lowe's or Walmart. One pound per square meter seems to be about right. Do not bring seeds with you on the day you prepare the soil.

Wait until leaves are on the trees to give you some cover before you plant your seeds. any old bag seeds will do. Wear gloves as you poke holes into the dirt with your finger, or use a stick to make 1 to 1 1/2 inch holes in the loosened soil. Drop one seed in each hole and cover over with soil. Plant between ten and one hundred seeds per square meter. Expect a low germination rate and a high male to female rate and plant accordingly.  Your marijuana will sprout a few days after the next warm rain and can be thinned if necessary.

Protect your garden from deer by making a primitive fence out of dead tree branches. Place branching limbs across your seed bed until the air over your garden is crisscrossed with small branches. Arrange the branches so that the many small ends are facing outward making it difficult to approach the garden. Marijuana will grow up between the dead limbs and deer will not come close enough to munch it.

When the plants are young and soft they can easily be overrun by common garden pests, but once they harden off they require very little care. In the early summer it is wise to visit the garden once a every couple of weeks to remove vines and spray for bugs. All purpose insect killer from the garden section of Lowe's or Walmart will take care of bug infestation. Once the plants begin to flower bugs will leave them alone, so no worries about your buds being contaminated.

The earliest plants will begin to flower in mid July, so you will want to check the garden periodically in late summer to remove the males as they start to flower.  Harvest when the female buds are full or when tree leaves begin to fall exposing your crop to view, which ever comes first. If using a mixed bag of seeds you will likely have some plants that finish and others that do not. Be sure to harvest your buds before the first day of fall hunting season. Check your local regulations to know when this is. The last thing you need is some gun toting redneck finding you out there in his woods harvesting a  cannabis garden.

The key to this tek is replacing one weed with another. Any place with indigenous tall weeds has sufficient nutrients, water, and sun light to grow marijuana.

Happy Gardening!

very nice informative post!

a lot of useful information in here.

I prefer to use clones instead of seeds for outdoors. If you have access to clones, then you don't need to come back to sex them and rip out the males. But, transporting a ton of clones isn't as easy as seeds...

If this method works for you, cool.  In my neck of the woods it would not work.  You need to dig a big ass hole, tarp it, and collect rainwater, then set up an automated watering system.  You also need more than a 'primitive fence' to keep the deer out.  I'm talking electrified fences with sentries in watchtowers to keep these deer away!  Well, six to eight foot deer netting, scrupulously installed, will do the trick.

The soil in my area is clay, and rock hard during the summer.  You need to dig out trenches in the fall and mix topsoil/dead leaves, rotten wood, etc into the trenches.

Its all about knowing your area and ammending your practices to fit the environment.

Also, thoughtfully planted clones will pain you way less than broadcast seeding.  And its not very hard to do.  Only a few CFLs in the closet a couple months before planting will be enough.

Still, good post.

I'm sure your method works great, but I don't think it qualifies as wild-crafting.

The beauty of this tek is its simplicity. Sure you can get better yields with clones, watering, and fences, but you also have a lot of extra work, and a lot more risk of getting caught and going to jail.

I just want to be able to smoke pot without a lot of risk and hassle, and this works for me. After years of failed attempts at outdoor grows, it dawned on me that success might be had by cooperating with nature instead of railing against it, and last fall I had my first good harvest. I don't care where you live, if you can find a stand of broad leafed weeds over six feet tall, then marijuana will grow there!

A note on deer, If you live in an area overrun with deer, such that there is no vegetation in the under story of the woods, then the primitive fence I described will not work. However, those types of places also lack stands of tall weeds, because the famished deer eat all the weeds. Find a place with tall weeds, and you have also found a place with a manageable deer population.

Contrary to popular myth, deer do not relish cannabis as a food source. They will eat it when it is young and tender, if it is easy to get to, but they will not go out of their way climbing through a pile of downed branches to get to it, unless there is nothing else to eat in the area. Once the plants reach five or six feet tall, the stems are so fibrous that deer will not bother them at all, unless of course there is nothing else to eat in the area, in which case there will not be any tall weeds around.

Find the tall weeds, dig them up, and plant your seeds. You will have a harvest in the fall.
